• Been reading this thread, very useful and felt I should share my experience. Currently have:

XL TV
L BB
M phone
V+HD box

Rang up and said for same monthly rate I could get 20Mb broadband, caller ID and evening calls with Sky. Plus £116 cashback and £100 M&S vouchers. Lady I spoke to was quite abrupt and began slagging off Sky and what they could actually get BB wise, also made allegations of Sky being cowboys and will just rip me off!

Eventually she got to an offer of £25 for TiVo setup/activation and £47 per month, I stated that Sky were effectively still a tenner cheaper per month roughly and got my cancellation date. Now just waiting on the call back for another offer.

Ideally I'd like a package of TiVo (no setup), BB upto 20Mb, V HD box moved to bedroom, XL TV package and evening calls added - for around £40-£45 per month. Would also be interested in Sky Sports HD package if I could get that added for a total of around £60.

Will update how I get on.
• Hi everyone, just joined this forum but have been reading it for the last couple of weeks.
I have been with Virgin for about 6 years now and am paying £51.45 for :
BB M
Tv L
Line rental and caller id.
with old Virgin tv box.

Just rang through to dis connections and asked if they could do any better as new customers get better deal and I had been checking out Sky and BT.
I was offered
XL Tv
BB L(which is same as I have now 10mb)
V+ HD box
New improved modem.
on 12 month contract for £40.90.
Told them I would think about it and the guy said he would put the offer on the computer so I can go back to accept it if I wanted.
This seems quite good to me compared to what I am paying now- does anyone think I have any chance of bettering this ?
Also is it worth trying to get Tivo- is it much better than V+box.
Thanks to all the previous posters for some great info on this thread.
Mick.

well for price i would as the the last person to call u will offer for min price but you will loose ur date and risk not getting it for xmas i got initial date 7 weeks wait for install but i kept ringing and got cancellation installing today.

I didn't settle for the 1st offer, first offer was offering me the same but with an extra £6.50 a month for my box upstairs which i said no to. I'm not in contract, haven't been for over a year, they are only fitting my Tivo on the 22nd Dec (apparently they're really busy in my area) Should I ring again and say i want to cancel?
yes you can i will post price breakdown later as off to work look at price for each additonal channel add that on to there min price as channels as like u say sky sports arnt reduced but can still get price down to £48.12 as they reduce rest of package price

utter rubbish - there is no way on EARTH you would get all the OP got for £48.12.

Its got sky sports for a start. plus Tivo. Please don't post such rubbish.
• I might do that then, not really bothered to be honest whether my Tivo is installed before or after Xmas. Not too sure what i'm going to say though, If I say i've been having a think and it's a little too expensive surely they'll say stay on the package i'm on currently? It's not really going to work if i say it's too expensive, i'd like to disconnect....

Any ideas lol?

Say you've considered the offer and decided that its still too rich for you - I don't think you will get anything from them without going through the whole disconnection process and awaiting the call back.

I think with these scenarios its best to look at the list price, see if you are getting a discount, are you happy with what you are getting? If so stick with it.

Don't always take others quoted prices as a comparison for your deals and bundles, there are various different reasons why some get bigger discounts than others - staff, friends and family, some factor in cashback in the deals they list etc etc.

If you're happy with the service, if its got all the features you want and you are getting a price better than list then be happy with that.

Virgin have a bottom line, they have a minimum cost with these things, sure some are more rigid than others (movies, sports etc) but things like line rental etc they can discount as its their cost, things they buy in they can discount less.

...if you get sports or movies, the £7 HD add on is worth it now as its all boxes for £7 a month rather than 1 box...SS1 and 2 is in HD, as is all sky movies channels - they all look really good, even on my creaky original samsung V+ and the dust magnet which is the vHD
• Thanks visidigi, I've decided to ring tomorrow when i've plucked up the courage lol.
I was happy with my package but then i go comparing mine to others and then thinking it's not that great *sigh*
I'm not in contract and i would disconnect if it came to it so I can only try, I shall say i've spoken to my other half and decided it's too much money. Think i'm gonna try and get the package for £70ish, hopefully lower if that's do-able, then i will ask to add the HD, so basically get the hd for free compared to the £79.40 they offered me originally.
