I just rang up to ask if I could be on any better deal, I currently have the lowest broadband and TV XL with a V+ hd box and sky sports, no phone for £67 a month, but I had seen better deals but with phone lines in the bundles, Plus I really want Tivo lol....so i rung the upgrade your services line and spoke to somebody who told me that it would be an extra £3 or £6 for a phone line and £49.50 for Tivo installed (she didnt mention the £3 a month for tivo too) I asked if it was possible to get Tivo for free and she said not, so I politely told her no thanks and left it at that.

So I go on VM website and see this deal

    Your bundle
    Broadband L
    TV XL
    Phone M
18 month contract £38.00 << Change your order Virgin phone line £13.90 Broadband extras More Broadband extras > Virgin Media Hub Remove FREE TV extras More TV extras > TiVo Service £3.00 ESPN FREE Sky Sports Collection Remove £22.50 Fees Standard engineer installation
You are saving £49.95 FREE eBill for cable services FREE Switch to paper bill > Your total costs £77.40 £0.00
Free Tivo and a phone line for just £10 more than i pay now!!

So rung through to the retentions line, spoke to a nice lady, said i'd seen this deal, she checked it and said it was only for new customers and she would have to check with her manager to see if she could match it, She came back and said they could do it for £73.40. I said ok and asked about my existing box (silly me thought they would just move it to another room and that's that) she said to have it in another room would be an extra £6.50 a month, well i'm ashamed to say i went mental at her, I said "i've paid for that box for 3 years in my xl package and you want to charge me for it", she wouldn't budge so I said "just disconnect me, i'll find someone else", she was really nice and said "what's happened to make you change your mind etc" I told her that for a start it shouldn't even be a question whether you should give existing 3 year plus customers the same deals as new ones and that i wouldn't pay another £6.50 for a box that i believe i've paid enough for!

So she said can you hold the line a minute... came back and said you can have your other box upstairs for free :)

So i've got Tivo 500gb with free installation and activation
    My V+HD upstairs
    XL TV
    the same L broadband
a phone line (was just weekend calls for some reason but i added evenings too for an extra £4)
    call barring
    sky sports

    for £79.45

I'm pleased and think it's good but judging by what some people have got it's probably not lol
  • As someone who has had Virgin for a number of years but only for L broadband, I thought I'd call them as my phone contract with BT is due to run out soon to cancel. My missus wants some of the asian channels (only the star ones), however Virgin only offer them via the asian mela package.

Anyway I explained that SKY are offering the deal at £39.75 based on £20 for TV, £12.25 for line rental and £7.50 for unlimited broadband. As well as this they are offering £50 quidco and £100 M&S.

I said I couldnt work out what the cost to updgrade on Virgin would be but I understood that

M+ TV, M Phone and L Broadband with Asian Mela would be £47.90

The customer retentions person said she could do it for £40.90 (L broadband, L Phone (evenings and weekends) plus M+ tv and Asian Mela with a V+ box).

I said this wasnt good enough and have received a cancellation date.

What do people think? I think the above can be achieved for £30 odd . Am I being over optimistic or if someone has this package what are they paying for it? (I would mention as i have free landline on my mobile I dont need a phone line but I understand the best discounts are with having a phone line)

You should of held out for 4 more days of them thinking your disconnecting after which in morning you will get one call with little better offer continue disconnection and by the evening you would have got it for £52.50 per month all in!!! never settle for first offer and if you are out of contract they can go as low as £48.12

  • I'll give that a go next try then, and I'll use his attitude as one of the reasons I want to go ;)

I think thats where u went wrong Whiskerz, you asked to put to another department instead of saying you wanted to leave Virgin.

I need some advice on mine to be honest:

    This is my deal:

    VTalk Evenings & Weekends
    Loyalty Bb/Phone/TV Discount
    T V Size: X L
    1 Additional V Box
    V+ HD Monthly Fee
    Broadband Size: L

    Price - £41.30

    Phone Line - £13.90

I dont really use the landline at all.

My V+ box is rubbish and keeps on failing, this has been changed before. I was thinking of going on Tivo but they want £50 install and £3 extra a month. They said they could move my V+ to another room free of charge. I said I already have a V box in another room for £5.50 a month. Could they move the V+ and knock £3 off the £5.50 I pay, they said no.

Is it time to test the water with retentions or am I getting a decent deal as it stands now?
  • Just to be on the safe side... Nobody here thinks my deal is that spectacularly amazing I should be ashamed of my self for wanting better internet do they? lol
  • Been with NTL/VM for more than 10years, currenty I have the following
    TV- M BB- L Phone- L Asian Mela £11

All that comes down to £44.90, which I think is extremely high especially when they give tv M+ to new customers and I would have to pay for this.

Anyone think there maybe better offers around, with tivo and improved tv?
Called retentions and they offered tv upgrade to M+ and that would be a total of £40.
    Should I take the deal???

    Bansikishan

What happened to you? Did you cancel and if so what price did they go down to? (I'm assuming they could offer it for less than £40?)

I didn't settle for the 1st offer, first offer was offering me the same but with an extra £6.50 a month for my box upstairs which i said no to. I'm not in contract, haven't been for over a year, they are only fitting my Tivo on the 22nd Dec (apparently they're really busy in my area) Should I ring again and say i want to cancel?

Its got sky sports for a start. plus Tivo. Please don't post such rubbish.
  • Thank you!

I think mine's a good deal and it's never going to be the same as others because of the sports.

£12 more a month for a phone line, Tivo and my V+ hd box upstairs. :j
