Hi, i am wondering if Virgin said they will send me confirmation of my package through email, and letter, but have not, should i take it with a grain of salt and they may not live up to their deal promise?

I talked with cancellations who gave me this deal:

    Broadband 30mb unlimited downloads
    Superhub 50mb capabilities
Line rental with talk weekends and evenings
    Free installation
    £40 off the first bill
    12 month contract

This has come to £21.49 i think he said (no confirmation in writing so i am not sure)
First bill will be £3 approximately with the £40 off he said

I got a welcome pack Saturday which did not confirm anything, just gave me a account number and a cancellation reply slip - i have sent this slip back as i do not trust these guys at all, they may say one thing on the phone and then do another, should i continue with cancellations?

I'm mid-contract (ends August) with VM and I'm unhappy with their prices. I currently pay £38 p/mth for L broadband and L phone. Seems I can get the equivilent on Sky for a fair bit less. I'd stay with VM if they offered me faster broadband and a V+ box for the same amount, but I doubt they will...

What are the penalties for leaving mid-contract?

I think its on their site, tell them direct debit will cease with immediate effect i think there is a charge though.

I just cancelled my installation, got no help on this thread.

  • We missed an outbound retentions phone call 5 minutes after we left :( Can anyone who has experienced them tell me how often they call? Is it likely that they will call tomorrow (seeing as it's the only day I'll be in this week.)

I went through to Retentions and got offered L Broadband, M+ TV and Talk Eve and W/end for £38 p/mth. I was less than impressed so I've given notice....
  • Was paying £52 p/m for L TV, L BB and XL Phone - Now pay £37 a month for XL TV, L BB and XL Phone (with 08 no. inclusive). My method was to cancel all services and wait until outbound retentions phoned me.
To answer a question asked prevoiusly, VM do phone you on several occasions at varying times of day - so chances are you will get a call.

You've done the right thing submitting your cancellation.

I did exactly that and got an offer of £16.99 per month for the service you've been offered...and that included Line Rental too.

Wait for your call back, and see what they offer. You do need to know what the deals that O2/Sky/etc. are currently offering to barter with the outbound team, who appear to know the deals on the market pretty well. So do some research!

    Best of luck.

Don't worry too much...they appear to call pretty regularly. I got a call every day after I handed my notice in. Although the call seemed to come at exactly the same time of day every time...which was a bit of nuisance.

Worst case, cancel your service notice at day 28/29...and then serve notice again after a few weeks.
