i only have broadband connection as spend time away from home so have no use for TV or land line.
for the past 3 years theyve done nothing but put me out! changing DD prices without informing me when im on an offer.
2mg for £10 for 12month, after only couple of months of the offer they are billing me for £15!! after a FEW phone calls i get it to £12 after being told a prec rise had happened!! only 2-3 months after being offered the offer!
on the 10th month i get charged £18 so after a FEW phone calls i get offered a new £15 monthly deal even though the original £10 deal should of still been in play!! they told me it was due to a new price rise (again)
i tried the free 10mg after using only 2mg throughout all that time for 1 week after they offered a free trial via post for customers alread on BB. tried it but thought it was more than i needed so asked for the 2mg back, told couldnt have and it wasnt available!!!
afer cancelling they rang me to offer me 10mg for £15 so i accepted.
within 2 months my bill has risen to £17!! after a FEW phone calls i managed to get them refund an amount equivelant to the over charge of £17 but this would make the actual bill stay at £17 ( i can see what they are doing here)
so closing in on the 12 months of the 2nd year my bill is £17 even though its actual £15. out of the blue my bill appears as £18 so after a few phone calls im told thats it, its £18 or nothing!!
so i ask for cancellation. 3 days later they call me asking me why i left so i said the stern person i last spoke too offered me no advice or sympathy, in fact they only stated a price i was to pay or leave.
they apologised and offered me £17, which is what my original bill was showing but not the price i was paying as it was £15 but over charge meant it was showing £17!!
with that £17 after a bit if wrnagling they also gave me the 1st month free by way of adding £17 to my account, this was in Jan this year.
no bill for Jan as credited to account as promised.
feb get billed for £17. march get billed for £18.25, after a few phone calls was told it was due to a price rise!!!! angry but thought - hey, i got my 1st month free i guess.
april bill comes and £19, so after a FEW phone calls again apparently it is due to another price rise!!!!
after explaining to them they never once informed about any price rise and that i consider a 12month offer exactly that, not a 12month offer that changes when they feel it suits them. i also informed that since Dec 2010 (4 months) ive had 2 different offers and 4 PRICE RISES during that period. the difference from of 75p from the 18.25 to the 19 x10months has been credited to my account but my bill will still be £19 so i can assume that with the next few months they will hike there prices, extract extra sums of money from peoples accounts without there knowledge.
theres my gripe and im sure my price £18.25 for 10mg aint the best i can get for a low end user.
No it sure isn't Billy. We are currently paying £27.50 a month for BB, TV and phone. To be fair Virgin always email to let us know about any price increases (which seem to happen quite often). Like others who have posted we have no use for the TV service as we have Freesat which includes the HD channels BBC HD, BBC 1HD, Channel 4 HD and ITV HD. We have no HD channels with Virgin. And our mobile phones all have plenty of inclusive minutes so we don't use the landline. When I called I was informed that if I wish to discontinue the TV and phone I would have to upgrade to a larger BB and pay £26, what the 30MB one I said, no the 10MB one said the chap! I have an email from them from February LAST year saying everyone is being upgraded to 10MB but the Virgin chap told me we are only on 3-5MB (haven't yet tested to confirm this). Not at all happy and will be giving notice to see if they offer any better deal otherwise it's bye bye Virgin and I will look for a cheaper broadband only service.0 -
I am now out of contract.
I pay £45.99 for XL TV (165 channels), Talk Unimited and a 10GB internet connection.
No extra boxes. Seems that I have the largest tv and phone package and smallest internet.
Does anyone know if it's likely to increase internet connection for same cost or retain same package and reduce cost via retentions department?
Thanks in advance.
Lester
Edit: Just read two posts up and will hopefully get 087 calls included and an extra V+HD box for £4 less than I currently pay.
I'll let folk know how I get on.0 -
Hi
Does anyone know the opening hours for the retentions team?
Cheers0 -
Does anyone have any idea what Skys best offer for TV,BB and phone is?
Just so i can go full of information to VM retentions0 -
i have ten meg down load speed which if i go over 1.5 gb download they will slow me down to 2.5 meg for 5 hours but i am still paying for 10 meg so is this a crime and can i take them on with a no win no fee mob i have been with them for years and never had this problem before if they wont to give me 2.5 meg then charge me for that not for 10 meg i think i will go from them all my tvs have freeview on them :mad:0

Hi everyone Im a new user(sorry if I posted this in the wrong place) and I really need your help, I'm with virgin media, I'm on the XL broadband and phone deal, we have a wireless router and aside from one lucky person who never seems to have any trouble with it me and my housemates are being driven mad with our broadband connection, its always disconnecting or just plain refusing to work.:( I the unfortunate one who was left in charge of dealing with broadband when we moved in, (boy do I wish Id chosen water) have called virgin media about this problem a number of times they sent someone out who said it was fixed, then someone said they had fixed it over the phone, and last time they said I had to call while it wasnt working but this is quite difficult when it disconnects temporarily while I am halfway through watching a film at 1am! I called and tried to cancel but as I am under contract til september they said I couldn't but do they not have a responsibility to provide me with a decent service? Especially when I am paying so much for it? They dropped their prices like a month after we joined:mad:0

Hi everyone,
I have been a V/M customer for over 10 years. Currently have phone line, Talk evenings & weekends, V+HD Box, Paper Bill, M TV package and sky sports for monthly charge of £53.54
Spoke to person from retentions team at Virgin today as wanted to add a broadband package - ended up being offered all of above but with a 10mb BB and upgrade to M+ TV package for £57.54 discounted to £50.04 for next six months
Would welcome any feedback on whether I should be pushing harder or if this deal is ok?0 -
have been with them 10 years on internet + phone. called to cancel last friday, they rang up today and asked why, i said we were moving to sky as we already have tv with them. he said 'yeah, makes sense!', confirmed the cancellation date and that was that, haha. maybe they will call again.0

heh, they called today and offered to reduce our current deal from £31 -> £22. in the end we settled for an upgrade to 30MB and free superhub for same price as we have now.0
