Yeah you should get a phone call asking why you’re looking to leave, so make sure you have done your homework in regards to what you can get from other providers and they should be able to offer you something better. Simply telling them you know someone with Virgin who is paying x amount is not really going to help.
I got exactly what you currently have, along with an additional 2 x V+ Boxes (so 3 boxes in total, one normal and 2 x V+), with a Super Hub throw in for FREE, all for £1 more per month than you are currently paying and on a 12 month contract (all been checked, verified on the phone as well as on the contract that came in through the post). Also they waived all installation and V+ activation charges, which would have come to £190.0 -
WOW thats an amazing amount!! They wont let me have any V+ boxes unless i pay them for them
Ive checked out sky and they dont do BB in this area, so it would cost me 29.90 for the TV inc HD, and then i'd have to get phone line and BB elsewhere, so would end up costing me more through them. Im not sure where else to try to be honest, Ive only ever used Virgin since leaving home. Would you be so kind as to PM me some ideas?0 -
Hi guys, would appreciate a bit of advice. I have been a customer for years, and rang them last week to say I was going to leave on account of price and poor service. As expected (after reading this thread ) I received a call back a few days later from the retentions dept who tried to make me stay by offering me a better deal. After half an hour of negotiating and me sticking to my guns, I managed to cut my current bill by 50% keeping all the services I had before so I was very happy.
I currenty have a V+ box in my living room and a second box in the bedroom, which is just a standard box. The problem I have is yesterday an unexpected package arrived. It was a brand new Samsung V+ box. I never asked for one and the guy on the phone never mentioned that one would be coming. There was no letter with it, but there is a prepaid postage sticker to return your old box. I have had my current V+ box for 4 years now and its the older, bigger type. The new one is the small Samsung model. Would it seem that I have just been given an updated model as a "perk" of staying ? Could I be cheeky and return my standard box instead and use this new V+ one in the bedroom.................Or should I just not return anything until they ask

My deal was structured in 2 stages, when I first rang them up and went through to cancellations I negotiated a deal which I thought was good and accepted it. Only after did I do my homework and found that were better deals to be had, so I called them back to cancel and they said they could not match/beat what I was looking for, so I gave my notice. Then a few days later I had a call from their outbound retentions team where I managed to get the deal I currently have. Even with 10MB broadband I said what about the SuperHub? And I was told we can include that for FREE if you would like even though it is only available to customers on 20MB+ or if they pay £60 for it. I think if I had pushed it, I’d have got 3 V+ boxes, I was told that they maximum they can give is 2 per household however they could email someone to find if a third one would be possible, but I didn’t really push for it as I wanted to close the deal which was on the table at that moment. Remember if you don’t ask, then you don’t get and this department has the most authority.
Also if another provider is not able to offer you any particular service in your area, then Virgin do not need to know about that when you are negotiating with them. They have no way of knowing what is and is not available to you (unless they have your non-virgin landline number, eg. BT).
Check your PM0 -
I got my contract through and surprise surprise it says 18 months. I rang virgin and they verified on the phone with me the exact prices and that it's a 12 month contract! Should I push for them to send me out a 12 month contract? Hmmm it does seem strange!!0

Hi all,
Just called Virgin myself to ask a few Q's about my current loyalty discount i get...
At present i get... XL - TV
XL - Phone
M - Broadband
For £47.74 a month (this is after a discount of £22.50 for my loyalty pack i was given a few yearsback when i told them i was leaving)
I'm interesting in having the XL BB added to my package, which the lady at Virgin Media said would take my package price including discount to £60.04
But my issue was that a new customer with "free" installation can get the exact same package for £62.05 for 6mths then £67.05 thereafter. If my discount of £22.50 is taken from this new customer price i would be paying £39.55 for 6mths and then £44.55 for the remaining months????
She said NO, that new customers are also discounted but not quit to the same amount as existing and that my new discount was £23.44......... but then i'll be paying £43.61 yeah? NO, it will be £60.04 she says. But thats not much of a discount is it, its only £7 a month and i get £22.50 now.
She couldnt answer and said is there anything else i can help you with, to which i said no thanks for your help!
Is it worth calling again and trying to speak to someone with a brain cell this time???0 -
Was paying silly money for Anytime Calls, 20mb BB, Full TV. Decided to cut costs and remove Phone and TV and just have 10mb BB at £21. The guy wouldn't give me any good deals.
After getting a disconnect date Virgin have been phoning me constantly for the past week on their 0800 number. I only managed to answer the phone today.
Deal offered (and snatched) £12.99 including line rental, evening and weekend calls, caller display, 10MB BB, Freeview TV with 18 month contract.
Couldn't believe the deal. I asked her to confirm about 5 times on the call that line rental was included!!!! Still sceptical however will wait on paper work coming through.
Update: I phoned VM back today and confirmed £12.99 for 12 months with 18 month contract. Base price £20.59 + £7.90 recurring credit!!!0 -
im sick to the back teeth of VM!!
i only have broadband connection as spend time away from home so have no use for TV or land line.
for the past 3 years theyve done nothing but put me out! changing DD prices without informing me when im on an offer.
2mg for £10 for 12month, after only couple of months of the offer they are billing me for £15!! after a FEW phone calls i get it to £12 after being told a prec rise had happened!! only 2-3 months after being offered the offer!
on the 10th month i get charged £18 so after a FEW phone calls i get offered a new £15 monthly deal even though the original £10 deal should of still been in play!! they told me it was due to a new price rise (again)
i tried the free 10mg after using only 2mg throughout all that time for 1 week after they offered a free trial via post for customers alread on BB. tried it but thought it was more than i needed so asked for the 2mg back, told couldnt have and it wasnt available!!!
afer cancelling they rang me to offer me 10mg for £15 so i accepted.
within 2 months my bill has risen to £17!! after a FEW phone calls i managed to get them refund an amount equivelant to the over charge of £17 but this would make the actual bill stay at £17 ( i can see what they are doing here)
so closing in on the 12 months of the 2nd year my bill is £17 even though its actual £15. out of the blue my bill appears as £18 so after a few phone calls im told thats it, its £18 or nothing!!
so i ask for cancellation. 3 days later they call me asking me why i left so i said the stern person i last spoke too offered me no advice or sympathy, in fact they only stated a price i was to pay or leave.
they apologised and offered me £17, which is what my original bill was showing but not the price i was paying as it was £15 but over charge meant it was showing £17!!
with that £17 after a bit if wrnagling they also gave me the 1st month free by way of adding £17 to my account, this was in Jan this year.
no bill for Jan as credited to account as promised.
feb get billed for £17. march get billed for £18.25, after a few phone calls was told it was due to a price rise!!!! angry but thought - hey, i got my 1st month free i guess.
april bill comes and £19, so after a FEW phone calls again apparently it is due to another price rise!!!!
after explaining to them they never once informed about any price rise and that i consider a 12month offer exactly that, not a 12month offer that changes when they feel it suits them. i also informed that since Dec 2010 (4 months) ive had 2 different offers and 4 PRICE RISES during that period. the difference from of 75p from the 18.25 to the 19 x10months has been credited to my account but my bill will still be £19 so i can assume that with the next few months they will hike there prices, extract extra sums of money from peoples accounts without there knowledge.
theres my gripe and im sure my price £18.25 for 10mg aint the best i can get for a low end user.0 -
Would like to say a HUGE thanks to V1NNY!!!
VM called me back today and this is the offer that i now have
XL TV and V+HD box for downstairs
10 meg BB and new hub
All phone calls for free and 250 mins to 0845/0870
TV connection upstairs including V+ HD box
All for £420
