At present, my current packages with Virgin Media is:
BB Size M
TV Size L
Phone Size M
and it all comes to £35 a month which I'm no longer happy paying. I'm going to send them an email telling them to reduce my monthly bills by a minimum of £5 or I'm going elsewhere. Do you think they'll do it?
I would have thought you would be better phoning tbh.
I'm going to try and give them a phone tomorrow and speak to the cancellation dept.0 -

But wait to see what they offer,Ask them for my deal.Other countries are included or get another part of deal.
Remember they know Sky can offer you everything for £40
Get it in an email from them and understand the market is cutting their prices0 -
Realising I was paying well over the odds after my contract expired (£26.99 for Broadband L, TV M and Phone M (was free L when still in contract)) I rang up to say I was thinking of leaving. I was offered a deal for £21.99 a month.
Ever since then- problems! Firstly they were still charging me for evening phone calls and I had to call them again to sort it out. But then, the contract they've sent me added up to £26.99 a month rather than the promised £21.99. So I emailed them a few days ago with this discrepancy and got a call today. The guy said that there was no offer for £21.99 and the price is £26.99. When I insisted that I'd been definitely been told £21.99 he had the audacity to imply that it had been my fault through a 'miscommunication' and that there was no reason why the guy I spoke to before would say it was £21.99.
So I said I'd cancel and then he saidwas still in contract- which I'd agreed to- for 12 months at £21.99!! Eventually he agreed to cancel it without any charge. But really, this kind of service and messing me around is terrible. Time to be rid of them!
After reading others on this thread and the Virgin Media: Haggle down your costs thread, I emailed the CEO with this whole saga and they responded quite quickly, offering me £5 a month off for the next 12 months as a 'goodwill gesture' (to make it as the promised price). Well, thought I may as well accept that for another 12 months when I will re-evaluate...0 -
Virgin Media customer here.
Currently on £30.50/month for TV L and BB L with a 30 month old set-top box.
Wanted: TV L, BB L, a new V+ HD so I could record TV and watch shows broadcast in HD, and to pay less per month.
Offered: £35.99/month for TV M+, Phone M, BB L, and £49 charge for V+ HD box.
Politely told them I wasn't interested in that price and I wanted to go ahead and give my one month of notice.
Next week they called four times - three times I was unavailable.
Improved offer: £34.24/month for TV XL, Phone M, BB L, and free V+ HD box on an 18 month contract.
Not decided if I'm going to accept the offer because it is more expensive but it is a substantially better package. I do regularly find that I cannot watch certain shows because I'm not on the XL TV package. VM are going to call back later today and hopefully I can renegotiate the price but keep the package details.0 -
de1983and to pay less per month.because it is more expensive but it is a substantially better package
Don't intend to sound harsh, but which do you want?
You start by saying you want to save money, they dangle a carrot, you immediately consider upping your spend.
You're not alone though, this thread is full of people, saying they want to save money, they then agree to a 'better' deal involving more spends.
Newly Ex VM customer, they phoned me back the once, same offer, and started telling me I was stupid to leave.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

I did initiate the conversation by saying that all I wanted was to negotiate the cost of my current package and get a V+ HD set-top box. The guy on the phone said he couldn't do a deal on that option because the best offers all included a phone line.
I was also offered an alternative option of taking TV M, Broadband L, Phone M, and free V+ HD box for £24.99/month for 18 months...0 -

At least they are calling you back, I am on my second cancellation period and still not had a call.
If you only have two services, the Virgin Media Mates rates deal seems to be on at the moment and if you search on Google for virgin media mates rates november 2010 and you will find the offer on a number of boards with willing VM staff offering to sign people up (I think they are running an internal incentive at the moment, current offer ends 31st December but seems to have been on almost continuously since 2009, so may be extended again in the new year). Current offer is £33.50 for XL TV/XL BB/XL Phone, V+ and extra V HD box. Much better offer than retentions are offering, only available if you add a new service (so won't work if you have M TV as part of your phone and bb package even if you don't use it and didn't request it, cancelling one of the services doesn't work either as it doesn't apply if you downgraded within the past 60 days).
Good luck

Not having a dig at you,, yup they wanted me to take phone, I was BB only, but VM phone calls are some of the most expensive around, and don't allow the likes of 18185.
I can't comment on TV costs because I hardly watch any, Freeview is more than enough.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

They do allow 18185/1899 etc as we use them - it is just that rather than a short dial code you have to use an 0808 or 0208 number (depending on your call package - also works on mobiles) and don't get the same reduced rate as BT customers but do still get significantly cheaper than VM (see for example http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php).
