  • Thanks for that info Geordie as thats what I'm currently thinking about, still not decided though. I read another thread yesterday (digital spy I think) and a few folks on there had this package and £38 seems to be the figure they are all being charged so I think I would try for that price if I decided to go for it.

Also, further to my post yesterday about my BB being only 3-5MB on speed tests, when we are on 10MB. We changed our firewall last night and our speed has now gone up to 10MB!! Just thought I'd mention this as someone else could be getting a slow result due to the same problem. We were using a good Netgear one, but changed it to another Netgear one and the difference is amazing. :j

Just to add to the above that virgin media do throttle the network at peak times which can effect your internet speed too

Just thought I would share my limited experience with Virgin ADSL & BT line rental

I bought in Jan 2007, had 1M for 9.99, suited me as I came off dial up at time and do not download much except e-mail

Anyway, had e-mail this month, Virgin wanted to up the BB over 30% to £12.99, having followed MSE for a while I decided to move on, phoned for MAC and was offered one year stay of increase

Needless to say I will be more prepared to jump ship by December and have the fallback ISP lined up

PS, they are also going to increase speed to 4M, but doubt it will affect my use much for above reason

    Hey

Wondering if anyone here can help me out.

    Currently on;
    -Small TV (Freeview)
    -Unlimited Phone Calls
-M Broadband (10mb) but was on the 2mb, had the free upgrade

    I pay £25pcm.

I have asked to upgrade to the 50mb broadband. They stated for 50mb broadband it would cost me an additional £38 ontop of what I am paying at the moment. I was thinking thats way too expensive... What about 20mb? They want an additional £22 for 20mb broadband.

Where do they get their prices from?

Can anyone help me out? Is anyone on a package like mine? I dont watch TV often, I only use phone and the internet and have got the TV because its part of the deal.

I would really appriciate any help you could give.

I've literally just got off a 25 minute phone call with Virgin. They've offered me the standard phone, 20MB BB and Freeview, for £31 pcm. That said, I am out of contract and have been with them for over 12 months.

I find the myriad websites, deals and prices a bit of a nightmare to negotiate due to a condition I suffer from that makes it a bit difficult for me to disseminate information, so I'm not sure if that's good bad or indifferent. I don't use the phone line at all (never have), so I don't know how much they charge for unlimited calls, but it still seems substantially cheaper than what they've offered you?

  • Anyone got an tips on how to get Virgin to match the O2 deal? Seems a lot harder to get a great deal than it used to be.

Am I actually going to have to give notice to cancel and wait for retentions to call me? Also can anyone explain how the cancellation process works. Thanks

Just been on the Virgin Media to see what they could do. I pay £18 a month for only the 10mb broadband. I stated that o2 had offered me 20mb for £22.50 so could they match it. They came back with a offer for £15 for the 10mb which i reject and asked to cancel the service. ill keep you updated. 30 days and counting

Just do a bit of research first ie. different offers from rival internet providers, have these figures to hand when you ring up and explain politely that you'd be much better off going to them. It always works for me.
  • Virgin Media

    Broadband M (10mb, unlimited)
TV M (40 ish channels - don't really know or care which!)
Phone M (free weekend landline calls - would ideally like free anytime landline calls)

£23 a month including line rental

I can't find a better deal online from any other provider - but am willing to switch to save!
