  • Hi peter999

    Thankyou for your reply

May I say though , I have you to thank. :T

As your posting was the last one I read, before I saw red and made that money saving call to the retention dept, as I had enough of not being able to save money and get a good deal like your deal.

So a big thankyou to you. I posted my saving on here to let others know, hope it works for them too ;)

    regards

    That's brilliant !! :T

Lot of people like me need a good kick to go grab the deals.
It's unfortunate that it takes other problems with my NTL service to kick me into action
(4 engineer visits & numerous callls), so they owe me.

You've now spurred me on as I realise that Talk Unlimited/Talk Anywhere free upgrade would be useful to me -where does it end !!

In future I'm looking to stay at £26.75/month & get free upgrade to Talk Unlimited/Talk Anywhere to cover cost of all calls. I don't spend a lot on calls but it would be handy.

  • Just thought I would let everyone know.

I have been paying £20 for my 4mb line from Ntl (nopw Virgin) for the last 6 months as a special deal. This ran out today and one 3 minute phonecall to the disconnection team later I had secured another 6 months at £12.50 per month. Thats half price on the advertised price.

The guy at the other end of the phone suggested phoning back in June time to arrange another deal with them.

I have had my issues with Ntl in the past but they are keen to keep customers so discounts are readily available.

I agree with you, about the discounts in the retention department, came quick & striaght forward, I got the impression he did check the vodafone website whilst I was telling him about their deal, and then he went straight for it, nearly all in one breath too !! Had a thought today though, should my hubby of got the deal in writing ?

Shame sky doesnt take the same approach, spent hours (and Im not joking) on the phone with them today and got know where & advisor was dame rude too. Probably fed up with all the calls for deals. However virgin/ntl will knock the stuffing out of them if they dont watch out. Am now considering moving tv package to virgin and cancelling sky.

With Telewest i was getting the following services for £58.00
    TV Supreme
    4mb Broadband
    Talk 400
does anyone know if this deal will still be available with Virgin Media
or how much it would be to downgrade to the lowest TV option while keeping the Talk 400 and 4mb broadband?

Have at a look at the Virgin Media website.

Get an idea of prices & bundles available, then have a look in this board at what deals people have been getting & what you want.

I got a deal after I phoned to complain & before I knew of the new Virgin/NTL deals.
If I checked this out beforehand I probably would have got more.

I was with NTL & think the Virgin deal looked v interesting. I paticularly want V+ (same as Sky +) but didnt want to pay anymore. Called them up & said I wanted my package rejigged so I got a better deal with V+ for less - please!

Very nice chap checked it out for me. I had looked on the webpage & couldnt work out how to keep everything (Talk unlimited, XL tv & BB) plus the extra for less. I worked out we would probably need to downgrade tv & phone. Anyway he came up with keeping everything we have, plus V+, free installation & the cable box moved upstairs for 50p a month less.

Now I know its not a huge saving but I did get what I set out to get & am paying no more - if you get my drift lol!!
    NEVER ASSUME!

Well i rang virgin and asked at the moment im paying
    £17.50 TV Supreme
    £18.00 4MB Broadband
    £17.00 Talk 400
    £10.50 Line Rental
    ________________
    £63.00 TOTAL
    - £3.00 Discount for paying Direct Debit
    ____________
    £58.00 TOTAL per month
    ____________
I got this deal when I rang in August 2006 and was told this was for 3 months. After ringing today I have been told this deal only expires in August 2007

I rang Virgin to get a price for downgrading to Medium TV (formally Starter with telewest) and adding V+, but keeping 4MB Broadband and Talk 400 it would cost me £68.00. Do you think i stand a chance of getting at least £10/month off for 12 months?
  • hi
I was so inspired by justwannabeloved that i called t/west{virgin media} the deal i had was £18p/m 2mb b/b,£11p/m line rental,£5.50even.&w/ends £34.50p/m in total.Using the the same tactics quoting vodafone deal got it reduced down to £18.45p/m and coming out with a improved package which now consists of talk unlimited, incl.of line rental, cheaper calls to mobiles and very same 2mb b/b.Well as you may imagine feeling pretty good about my super haggling skills, many thanks minnie125.
  • I called virgin media to-day and got another good deal:
    2MB Broadband
    Talkunlimited 24
    Family Pack TV
All for £35 a month but I read another thread and as they dont sell wireless routers. I quoted the orange deal which was £19.99 a month broadband with free wireless router. I was told to go to PC World and buy one and fax the receipt and my account would be credited with the price. But as i had already bought one from Comet that was okay, really pleased well worth the phone call.
The number I used was 01256 752 000 not a 0845 or 0870 make that call its worth it hope this helps some people.
