naj speak to retention department, nearly all companys have these to keep customers and you have to be an ok customer like paying on time etc etc, which I am sure most people are. Dont tell anything to the first person you speak to just ask to speak to retention, I rang 0800 no. and woman there started asking me qs, on option 2 (upgrades) she wanted my address etc I said why do you need all this she said she can do the canelations etc, I said no I'll speak to retention and hung up.
Tips; No matter what company you speak to be Polite, respectful, acknowlge try to be reasonable and try your best, sometimes advisors get shouted at sweared etc and its not nice and it does get to you so you be sort of nasty and follow the rules and policies etc, so if you notice that just move to another advisor which means ring again.0 -
the woman never asked why I was leaving.
I did use the 0800 number given above as well.
I may try phoning again on tuesday to ask them to postpone the disconnection and see if they come up with any offer for me0 -
I phoned up to get a pin number for my box and the man offered me 10 meg for 19.990
-
What pin wow ? great deal.... is that for a year?Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.I walk with the world & the world walks with me!I don't make bad choices!!! Other people just fail to see my GENIUS !!!!0

Telewest
I had 2mb BB/ Line Rental/ Talk Eves W/e's/ TV for about 25 quid a month
Phoned up and asked to drop the TV and the guy said no you are on a deal so i said cut the lot - he gave me a date in September
Then i got letters offering me 20 quid off my next bill if i stay and a card with sad TW woman saying sorry to see u leave - haha
I phoned disconnections and said I wanted 4mb BB and lose the TV or thats it - he rabbitted on about no can do cos it would be 35 odd quid - so i said never mind
Called BT and set a date to leave and gemmed up on all the other deals and was going
Then a guy from the last resort centre in Dudley calls - quality guy but a real salesman - at this point i had gone in my brain but knew enough stuff from ADSL guide etc to say why i felt TW was way overpriced
Eventually he offered 4mb BB and line rental and Talk Eve W/Es for 19 quid and left his number. Called him back and said OK if a year - he agreed so cancelled BT
They said 6-9 months a lot will change with NTL standardising - hope we keep the great customer service and get better deals with BB haha0 -
has anybody had problems with their bills after getting the reduced rates? I rang at the beginning of june and got 4mb BB, Family pack and sky sports for £38.49. when my next bill arrived they overcharged me by £35 and this month they have overcharged me by £20! I strongly suggest that you make a note of the customer retentions bod that you speak to, i am really annoyed!0

I phoned up and got my package reduced. I think NTL are the best provider for broadband although I don't think much of their TV service.0

Good advice
I got the e mail address of the guy in Dudley who did my deal0 -
swebb wrote:Following my phone call to NTL yesterday, I thought I ought to make people aware. Seeing some other postings, I decided to try and get a better deal for my broadband. I'm on 2MB @ 24.99 a month and have been a customer for 2 years. I phoned, mentioned Tiscali equivalent is £17.99 and got 3MB @ £17.50 for 3 months. I explained that in 3 months I'll be in the same situation, so why should I stay? The lady explained that this is the best offer she can do at the moment - the offers change and to ring back in 3 months. So basically, if you ring every 3 months you can get the better deal all the time - the lady confirmed this with me. £17.50 for 3 MB of broadband is very good. I think it's £37 a month normally. I don't mind ringing every 3 months if I can get this sort of deal. Thought this might be useful for others.0
