No sadly in your case you upgraded to a new tariff, rather than benefitted from a speed uplift by NTL
When I took up broadband in July I went on £24.99 package which was 1mb and then received a letter saying I could get 2mb upgrade for free which I did - I didn't change tariff! I think they were very naughty to bind me in a 12 month contract as from the time I upgraded FOR FREE!0 -
I have just been offerred the following offer to stay with TELEWEST for the next 6 months
Talk unlimited (All exclusive calls except mobiles)
2MG Broadband
Supreme TV package - All channels
for.....£45.00 all in
I was going to TalkTalk and they had ten minutes to send the details over to BT that iwasn't leaving them so we cut this deal.
Before this I had ...Basic TV package, broadband and line rental (no evening and weekend set up and my bills we close to £100.00 each month
BTW - this is the direct number for customer service...0800 053 0751
Can anyone beat hat!!0 -
hey
thanks for taking the time to read this thread
i have been with NTL for about 3 years now
and not a major problem yet
however now speeds are increasing and price dropping down
i have not been able to either get a discount or a increase in speed
i currently have the NTL PHONE AND BROADBAND PACKAGE
'Unlimited 1Mb Broadband & Unlimited local evening & weekend calls'
i have had this package for over 12months now
i know that other providers are giving fantastic deals like talk talk/bethere
but i dont want to switch providers...too much hassle, iv been through it before
but then i hear angry customers are complaining to NTL and have gotten
either reduced packages or 10mb BROADBAND upgrade for FREE
please help me on what i should do
i am unsure on what to do in this situation
p.s im looking for 4MB(not 10mb) internet at a reduced price becuuse i dont have digital tv with ntl nor want it, because i have sky
ALSO... i thought speeds were to increase to 4mb for free on 1st june 2006
i have had no effect0 -
My NTL broadband contract is due to finish next month. After next month the price goes up from £9-99 to £17-99. I also have NTL cable/telephone/extra channel for which i am paying £27-50 per month. So in total i am paying £37-50 per month.
Rang NTL today regarding broadband. Customer service advised me to ring back next month after the current offer which i am on finishes. Apparently they can not offer an 'offer' until the existing offer has expired. So i plan to ring them next month and see if they will reduce the price of the broadband. I am happy with the 1 Meg download.
Is it advisable to ring NTL tomorrow to see if i can get a good deal on my TV/phone package or wait till next month and ask them to give me a good deal on braodband/tv/phone package?
thanksProblem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problemsWell at least i learn something on the way

When NTL introduced TV ON Demand etc... just as one example , did they have to increase internet uploads/downloads as a matter of course due to better programme reception, may be techies can enlighten us?Rememember. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

Just called NTL via their freefone no. hee-hee and eventually got passed to the retentions department and a message that they were experiencing high volumes etc. and I may have to wait half an hour. I thought I dont care how long as I am not paying for it but eventually got a human who reduced my bb to £9.99 and knocked £5.00 off the base tv package for 6 months with the advice to call before the 6 months is up. Saved £13 per month or £156 pa cant be bad0

i'm getting fed up with trying to contact NTL.
been trying to speak to them about reducing my broadband from £17.99 a month to £9.99, but am forever on hold. then have to hang up as i have to get back to work from my lunch break.
tried calling them after work on the freephone number to get a message saying their call centres were only open till 5pm!!!!!
is this because i'm using the free phone number? i bet i'd get though on the 0845 number....0 -
