  • Phoned NTl today and got phone line rental and broadband 1MB for 18.99 per month plus free local calls at evenings and weekends and 60% off calls to mobiles. Deal is supposed to be for a year but will be ringing again in 3 months to see if I can better it. Can't believe I haven't contacted them before now. Worth hanging on the phone for.

Flippin heck I'm not sure if this is real or not but she just said I have now got:

    Family package TV

Free calls 24 hours national not international

    1 meg broadband

    All for £20.49

So I have no calls too

For 3 months starting from today but she gave me a direct number and she said shes put a note on my account to say no quibble continue same deal after the 3 months or a better deal

    I was on:

    Base TV

321 Phone but no extra so I had call charges aswell

    1 meg broadband

costing me £31.49 (but that included an £8 reduction for broadband so normally it would be £39.49)

    PLUS PHONE CALL CHARGES

So unless somethings gone wrong its a good deal and I'm happy about it. My family channels on anyway now. I keep thinking shes got the price wrong.

She worked it out first just with base pack but that ended up more money! it was cheaper to have upgrade to family pack! I'm on the phone again rechecking the price and if the phones changed today so I can use it before 6
    Thanx

Phoned NTL today as I have 2Mb broadband at £24.99 and 3-2-1 telephone service at £10.50 plus calls. (Average monthly bill about £45)

I quoted Talk Talk and he gave me all the reasons not to change (ie not a guarranteed speed of 8Mb and lack of security). Eventually, he offered me 2 MB broadband and Talk Unlimited 24 for £22.99 per month, saving of £260 per annum. RESULT

And the best thing about it is that I am using NTL broadband to view this forum to instigate the change!!

Had 1MB BB, Family Pack, 321 phone on offer at £30.49 down from £49 (plus Onetel £3.99). Phoned last week and now have 10MB BB, Family Pack, Free telephone TU24 for £30.49.

I had discounts on 1/2 price 1MB BB (since last July for 12 months) and 6 months 1/2 price Family pack (since December - runs out this month). Think that I will wait for next bill then phone back about the family pack given success above. Would be interested to see what price people have secured for 10MB, Family Pack, TU24.

    Good luck

Was paying- £42.50 to telewest for 4Mb BB, tv package, phone line + display. Told them im moving to talk talk and want to cancel, after 10mins of slating them, offered me £30. I said no, said that if he can do £25 I will agree. Said he would ring back. Rang me back 15mins later, saying "Goodwill gesture -£25pm for 6 months. Sorted....

Phoned customer relations. Spoke to a guy. Said as I had been with them for so long would offer the following.
    1. 1 meg broadband for £8.50 and not the normal £17.99.
    or
    2. 10 meg broadband for £10 !!!!!!!

When I asked him how long this deal was for he said for as long as I stay with them.

RESULT - took the 10 meg of course !

Do you have any other services from NTL ? - as I only have 1MB BB @£9.99 for 12mths which is due to expire in July. I was also thinking of ringing them to see if they give me a speed upgrade.

    Previously: 4Mb broadband from Telewest - £25 a month
(I have a BT phone line and use Freeview - so only BB from TW)

I filled in the Customer Feedback form (link) on Telewest's website asking how I go about cancelling my BB connection and I mentioned that a few of my friends had joined Talk Talk and are getting a much better deal, etc. (slight fib :o )

A few days later had an email saying that they will cut my BB bill by 50% for 6 months saving me a total of £75. Whoo hoo! :j

I'll contact them again after 6 months and hopefully do it again.

I phoned up today to ask how long before my 12mths are up and she asked why was I thinking of leaving. I said u're getting better deals with TT / Madafish etc. and she asked what sort of speed I was looking at so I said better than what I'm on now (1mb). She offered 2mb for £12.50/mth for six months (an extra £2.50/mth).

I'm happy with that (doubled my speed for £2.50/mth).

Am I right in thinking that 2mb is being upgraded to 4mb for free soon?

For the last 12 months I've been on a 'no-brainer' special deal with NTL which gave me 1Mb broadband, free telephone line rental and Talk Unlimited all for just £9.99/month. This deal was offered after I told them I was going back to BT in order to get more broadband options available to me.

Having had such a good deal for nearly a year, I was expecting to have to pay full price, so I was preparing to have to move back to BT and probably go for the Carphone Warehouse Talk Talk offer. But after reading the posts on this board, I decided to try my luck again and rang the Customer Relations Department on 0800 052 9403, Option 2 (a useful number to know, since NTL moved over to 0845 numbers from 8 May).

After explaining the situation, and asking them what deal they could do, there was no hesitation in them offering me the following:-

For a monthly fee of £19.49...

    Immediate upgrade to 10Mb Broadband
    'Free' telephone line rental
    Upgrade to Talk Unlimited 24

As I had been quite prepared to go through the hassle and delay of reverting to BT and paying £20.99/month plus £30 installation, I am well pleased with that.

So, thanks to everyone on the forum who has contributed such helpful information.
  • I called today and all I got was "Ok your broadband will be canceled as of 30 days."
