Once upon a time a NTL complaints forum was set up due to the amount of bad press NTL recieved, then a Money Monster decided that complaints on the web were becoming to negative towards NTL so NTL brought the web forum. Ntlhell then appeared as the true voice against NTL, however persons involved with NTL hijacked https://www.Ntlhell.co.uk to provide what appeared to be a more helpful forum. I got banned- why ? I spoke out against their bad practice.
I can now say that their service has improved for me.
I could not accept that yours and mine confidential information was being abused by staff at NTL.
As the following link shows a member of NTL or scammer is asking a member/client to provide info to access their personal information . GOTO http://forums.ntlhell.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=44728

I've just managed to get straight through to ntl to complain about the fact that the last few weeks bb keeps coming and going and I'm not happy with paying £17.99 a month for this, the lady just said yes there were problems in my area at the moment, I asked if it would be possible to get the rate reduced until it was sorted out as I'm paying out but not getting full service and she said no! I then said ok how many days notice do you need to stop using and she said 30days. Would I get better results if wrote to them??? I can only get ntl where I am as no phoneline.Olympic bronze challenge-started 7/1/06-total so far is £194.300 -
Just ring back again and ask to speak to cancellations dept they take you more seriously there and offer you better deals. As for not being able to have anyone other than NTL because you have no phone I'm sure there must be other BB suppliers that would instal BB wouldnt they?Thanx

I've tried calling today but have got all confused! I said we were looking at talk talk as they'd be cheaper than what we pay now (approx £40pcm for phone and 4mg broadband, not that it is 4mg but that's antoher story!)
I didn't get as far as retentions, but the normal customer service guy was arguing about what talk talk would cost and was saying they'd not work out any cheaper.
We're with ntl and although there has been a BT line to the house, we're not connected, so would need to reconnect before going to talk talk
Can anyone confirm if BT would have a minimum contract of 12 months before we can go to talk talk?

Yes you do have to commit for 12 months how, ever there is nothing to cancel due to moving home and then deciding to stay on at the premises " a loop hole i have used in the past" I personally think you should call them back a tell thm you want to cancel our contract as you are unhappy with the service and the fact that other companies are now more competitive ie: Sky and Talk talk - the latter does have dodgy clauses and restrictions of which NTL will tell you to put you off cancelling but because NTL require one months notice tell them you wish to cancel how'ever if they accept your cancellation you can call them back in a few days to back track, usually they will come up with a better offer than the one you have.
I was with them for less than a year and got discount upon discount.
aS from MAY 2006 I have discounts on TV with family pack + one month free, BB, Telephone + free local and national free total per month £39.99 or less , however I have also received £180.00 refunds and I have only been with NTL for less than 12 months. I must stress fo the first 6 months i did receive poor service until i insisted they gave me the new silver box which resolved my issues.Rememember. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

I think part of my problem with NTL is that I really don't want the TV! my kids watch (more than) enough telly as it is and more channels isn't going to help that! also if we have it, even on trial for 3 months, they won't be happy if it goes again. Better not to have it in the first place
Anyway, spoke to bloke in retentions who said some interestuing stuff about Talk Talk....
NTL are no longer offering to pricematch Talk Talk as there is an Ofcom investigation going on due to the terms and conditions of the line rental minimum periods between TT and BT. Until that's been resolved NTL aren't willing to try and match Talk Talk.
Ahh I said, but Pipex for broadband and BT for phone would still be cheaper, ahh well he said, lets see what I can do....
Anyway, I ended up having half price BB (£12.50 for 4mg service) and half price phone line rental (£5.50) for 3 months. After that I've got to call them back and ask for them to add the reduction again
Also I think they've added me to a phone package that gives me free calls to landlines evenings and weekends, but I got a bit confused at that point!
So I've saved £55ish quid for a few calls - happy me
eta - also called tech line as customer service guy I first spoke to said I'd need a new modem to actually get the 4mg BB. Tech line man said rubbish, our 4+ year old modem will get it, just not quite yet. Should be up to speed by the end of June0 -
