    It seems good to me.

that's what I pay (£35) having reduced it from £55 for the same package. Would advise anyone on a virgin contract after 12 months to ask to leave and the "loyalty pack" discount could well come into play. Overall it's a big saving over a year.

However it depends on who you speak to. My wife was offered £20 off, said she needed to confer, when I rang back I was offered £10, and £20 only when I said I wanted to speak to cancellations.

I can't bring myself to go with Sky, it just seems wrong...
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

phoned them the other day to ask if they would honor the £9 BB for new customers on my account as I had been with them for about 4 yeas and they said that as I only took BB with them, it would be no!!!

I want to stay with them as their BB service is great but at £18 per month it's pretty steep!
You should be able to get 4Mbps (was 2M) broadband for £10 per month as a broadband only customer. I got this will very little negotiation and I know of others who have got the same. Ask to speak to Retensions Department and threaten to move to Sky or Talk Talk.

I finally had enough of my bill being £110 for the following:

    TV XL
    BROADBAND 20MB
    Telephone Talk Unlimited
    V+ Box
    second set top box

Rang Virgin Media. explained this to them they said that they couldnt do anything, requested to speak to disconnections/retentions and spoke to the disconnection department - explained couldnt afford there services anymore and he brought all my services down to £50 a month and I have been given the V+ box FREE for how ever long I remain a Virgin Media customer as they also waived the £150 charge for it.
And I didnt have to renew my contract which is great as I can downgrade/upgrade anytime now

    Great

The current offer is half price install for a v+ box, was £150 but for new customers £75.

Virgin Media VIP package is best at £85 a month for EVERYTHING

They have agreat broadband tech support team and staff are always friendly and happy to help!

i'd like to do something about my virgin package and wondered what this vip package is but i'm also confused as your bill seems to have risen from 65 to 90 and then 110 when other people are getting there package reduced to as little as 30. do you have a breakdown as to what you are paying per element?

I was paying £10 a month for 2Mb broadband on it's own after signing up a year ago. When the introductory offer ended I rang them and they offered to reduce it to £13.50. This seemed to be the best they were willing to offer so I accepted it.

A new bill came yesterday which if I understand it correctly is £10 a month.

Are they upgrading all 'Size M' customers to 4Mb automatically then?

Sorry, I should have said that they wanted to increase it to £18 after my 12 months 'new customer' offer ended but agreed to only increase it to £13.50 and actually seem to have kept it at £10

I noticed my download speed has increased to 4Mb from 2Mb about a week ago. I have just checked my speed again using the "thinkbroadband" speed test here and it is indicating 3.8Mb. I have assumed from this that I have been automatically upgraded to 4Mb from 2Mb on my "M" service.

However, I have just had a look at the "virginmedia.discussion.broadband" newsgroup and there is an "official" statement in there dated Feb 2008 saying "There's no current plans to make any changes to the service for the M broadband tier". So I'm unsure what the true position is now. I'll post more recent info if I find some.

    What speed are you getting?

    Hi

I have been a Virgin Media customer for the past 7 years, formally known as Telewest Broadband.
I have had three 12 month contracts, one when I first was installed, the second when I had V+ installed and the last one for the VIP package.
After my contract was up, I could not renew it without disconnecting and reconnecting my services which Im unable to do as I need my phone line active 24 hours aday.
My bill has increased as I have been a long standing customer and had the top package from the start, so by me downgrading I do not save as if you were taking up an offer on a upgraded package.
I was given alot of services in the first two years of being a Telewest customer, all 3 services completely free at no charge apart from calls.
I have recently down graded from VIP to 3XL, I lost my broadband discount (free Internet for 12 months £34.00 amonth credit) as a result.
I then felt that that package was to dear and contacted customer service who said they couldnt do anymore to lower my bill, I spoke to disconnections with a view to either down grade to bog standard services or get a better offer, I did, I have been given the following all for £50 a month:

V+ FREE - For long as I remain a customer
    Telephone Talk Unlimited
    TV XL
Second set top box - £10 Charge waived for long as a customer
    20MB Broadband

I have to say, £50 is still alot but without entering another contract I doubt I could get it much lower and I dont want to enter a new 12 months contract as I may be moving.

    Hope this explains it.
VIP package is great BUT dont get it if you wont watch the movies, it makes it very dear thats why I got rid of it as there are to many repaet movies on there.
