Just made my yearly call to retentions. I managed...

    TV XL
    BB L (10Meg by April)
Telephone (free evening and weekend calls)
    V+ Box (existing user).

£35 per month. 12 month contract.

Up until now I didn't have the phone with them, but i'm ditching BT and taking the phone too.

I've just managed to get the same package too- it was a lot easier to sort than I expected too. I'm surprised you have to go through to retentions before they are willing to offer a better service!

Well got the same £35 deal with Virgin - fairly happy - would have gone to Sky if they had done a decent deal

That was announced about a year ago. The terms of the above have changed somewhat as the peak time is now 4-9pm

I look away for 5 minutes & they have changed their policy.

Pity as it just means the heavy downloaders will wait till just after 9pm to download & hammer the network. I would prefer they kept it to midnight as in their old policy.

This explains the poor performance of my connection late at night.

I'm on a 20mb connection with them & don't notice any poor performance whatsoever & i'm not a big downloader either.

Irrespective it could be a localised issue?

I called up earlier in the week to Virgin Retentions, i'm on one of the old 'broadband only' deals from way back when (customer of nearly 5 years now) and all they could offer me is a £8 reduction on the price of the 20mb service. Funnily the chap on the phone added that if i took the phone with them i'd be saving more. Seems they want the full custom now, however i'm content with £29 for 20mb!

Just phoned, the £17.99 I paid for 4MB broadband (L) has now finished after 12 months. I've phoned up and they said that all they can offer now is a £3 discount to make it £22 a month and that applies indefinately.

Not a great offer at all, any suggestions? Thinking of downgrading to 2MB for £15...

Basically you have to cancel and wait to get a good deal as 1st person blanks you
They offered me 2nd box - just V box at £5 a month and the V+ is new and install free on 12/4

I must say as a heavy downloader I believe the new timings have actually improved congestion. Maybe it's got something to do with the increase of an hour to the speed limit once you've downloaded a certain amount. Okay so the times have eased from 4pm-9pm instead of midnight but it's now a 5 hour speed limit instead of a 4. I always seem to get 20 megs, but before I got a little less than that. And yes, I start hammering the network at 9pm... but if there was no limit I'd probably start hammering the network as soon as I get in at 6 instead.

Sorry, only just seen your question- I did already have V+
My package hasn't changed at all- the only thing that has happened is the cost was almost halved!
