Blondetotty wrote: »Just letting you know about my experience with 'Sell Old Phone' - came out on top of the charts for the price for an old k800i. Phone was in perfect working order (in fact still used it for the camera occasionally). Was quoted £27 so sent the phone recorded delivery. 7 days later they finally said they had received it and payment had been sent on 22/11.
Today I find a cheque for £15 at home - saying deduction for not including charger (ok that was my fault) and the handset had damage. Er, actually no. The handset was blo*dy excellent condition, I'd kept it in a phone sock for its one year life use and then stored it back in the box except to use the camera. They state in their terms that they will only return a phone to you if you don't want the cash of a 'similar condition'. Great - mine is marked as Grade B - damaged. They didn't even inform me of the downgraded payment I would receive before sending it.
After reading all these reviews and problems starting to wonder whether this recycling for money lark is actually a good idea. I feel slightly ripped off and a bit miffed.
My opinion - don't use 'Sell Old Phone'
did you have to wait a while for payment from selloldphone? im kicking myself for not checking up on the company before i sent my phone. Ever thought about recycling before my brother told me about it. So when i checked out how much i could receive selloldphone was the best. So sent it off last friday, special delivery. But ive got no reply, so started to read up on the company. From what i read ive been had.0 -
Hi, i totally agree with every comment you and the other unfortunate people who have had the misfortune of dealing with these cowboys. I made the mistake of using Love2recycle before reading this forum. I sent in my handset using special delivery, so i new it had arrived. After a couple of weeks of hearing nothing and not replying to emails i phoned them and they said they couldn't process it because the phone was to new for their system even though it is on their website!! I asked them to return the phone as i was not happy with their service. After a month they still have my phone and will not answer my emails or phone calls. Please take note and use another company as these people are con artists. I have contacted trading standards and will see them in court!!0

The mobile I want to recycle doesn't work and is so old it's not listed on the recycling sites. If I send it to one of these companies and go through a cashback site, will I still qualify for cashback?0

Hi
I run a comparison recycling site and when a phone is recycled I get a commission no matter if the phone has a value or not to the customer. So the answer is yes, quidco et al will be getting a commission from the affiliate networks and as such should pay out to the end user.0 -
Haha...
I sent two phones to Love2Recycle, and I had confirmation that they had received the two telephones
I have only received the money for the one telephone, of the least value.
Just imagine if I went down to their office and burned their provincial !!!!!! out...
EDIT: They will be sending me the money for the second phone.
No need to spread the word over teh interweb that Love2Recycle is a scam.0 -
Has anyone used RPC Recycle? They are offering £10 more than others I have looked at.
Thanks0 -
Used mobilephonexchange for my iphone as they offered the greatest amount of cash. Sent the phone in the appropriate envelope whilst also covering it with further packing. The phone was in perfect condition apart from a few scratches on the rear. Received an email saying that the screen was damaged and scratched. Total rubbish. I had protected my phone from the moment I purchased it. Instead of receiving £140.00 I am now offered £31.00. A scam rip off fraud deception0

Just to add my comments...
Used mobile phone Xchange to "recycle" my iPhone 3G as they were offering the most for it (via mobilevaluer.com).
After posting it to them, it took almost 2 weeks for them to email me back saying they had received it; but soon after they credited the Argos gift card they sent with £217.

I would strongly recommend people do not use this service. They send you a freepost envelope and when they claim not to have received your phone, they point out that they recommended you used special delivery in the small print (why then send the freepost envelope?!). This also means you can't claim against Royal Mail as you don't have proof of purchase.
This has just happened to me. DO NOT USE ENVIROFONE.0 -
Just done a quick search and looks like I can get £25 for my old SE k800i. One question - its been on an orange contract and is therefore locked. Its turns on ok and everything else is ok. Does this matter at all?0
