Mazuma was great for me Nokia N96 just phone and charger was all they wanted and i got cheque 3 days after sending it off £160 thank you very much plus used another company and got £60 for a broken NOKIA n95 - was enough to get myself a 32g Iphone 3gs sorted
Excellent!, I must admit I haven't tried Mazuma yet. I still have a few old phones knocking about so I will give them a try purely to test the process and work out who's best.0 -
I have had a really bad experience with Mobile Phone Xchange (MPX), & I want to warn anyone out there who is planning to sell their handset to them.
I had a Nokia 7210 (old model) which MPX offered £27 for. My handset was in excellent condition & matched the photo on their website. After sending it to them I received an email saying that they were offering me £0 for my handset. There was NO explanation as to why I wasn't receiving any money.
I emailed their Customer Services & received a short, but not so sweet, reply saying I had sent an old model of the 7210 which had no market value. I searched for my mobile phone on their website again & found that they had conveniently changed the photo of the 7210 to the newer model.
Someone in the company had obviously realised that they had the wrong photo on the website. They led (or misled) me to believe my phone was worth £27.
After several failed attempts at trying to phone their 'HelpDesk' I sent another email requesting that they either sent the money or returned my handset (or I would be contacting Trading Standards). I then received another email saying they couldn't return my handset (is that not theft?????) & would offer me £10 as a 'good will gesture'!!!!!!
This company is just making the rules up as it goes along, & I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.0 -
Just a quick question. . . .
I have been quoted £40 for my old samsung U900 soul at Tesco.com and i was wondering if anyone new what the limitations were on the voucher they send you.
Is it just for use with Tesco mobile top ups?
Its probably really obvious but it doesn't seem clear to me!
Thanks0 -

ThanksHello!
You can get £36.90 cash if you have the U900 Soul and provided that it is in good working order?
I am not sure on the Tesco voucher limitations but hopefully one of the forum members will be able to advise.

:T Just thought I'd post a little recommendation for Fonebank. I've used several different mobile recycle companies in the past (enirofone, mazume, mobilephonexchange & mopay to name a few) but Fonebank is by far the fastest, least hassle deal I've done so far! I know they don't send you a freepost envelope, but all you've got to do is wrap the fone up and send it to their freepost address.
(It does state on the website that they will not be held liable if it is lost in transit, but therefore, if it's an expensive phone, it might be worth paying for recorded or special delivery, or use a different company if the postage eats in to your profit.)
Anyway, my phone was just worth £12, so I risked posting it to them, and in spite of the postal strikes I had a cheque in the post within a few days! I was gobsmacked - would never have expected it to arrive so quickly, usually you have to chase before you get payment, so big up fonebank!I don't think I can hang on til Friday...0 -
What do these places even do with these phones?0

Not sure if you've had any luck so far, but i had exactly the same situation with mpx. They told me that my phone was broken, (although it fulfilled all the conditions on the site), and that they would only pay me £6 instead of £25 as promised. When I asked them to return my phone, they said that their terms clearly state that they never return any phones.
I rang consumer direct & they advised me to write in and complain, and they also notified trading standards, who got back to me, saying that they would investigate it, as their t&c's are unfair.
Anyway, after sending my letter of complaint, I received payment (Argos gift card) which according to the accompanying letter had been credited with £6. I called them and asked who was dealing with my complaint, and it eventually transpired that they had in fact credited the card with £25 after all, they just hadn't told me...
Anyway, I reckon it might be worth writing in and complaining about it, mentioning that trading standards are already investigating them? Ring consumer direct if you need help with wording the letter, or if you pm me, I'll send you a copy of my letter?I don't think I can hang on til Friday...0 -
Just thought I would recommend Mopay I thought my phone was a bit damaged as it wouldn't charge properly. But I got the most from Mopay it tested fine, and they put money direct into my account very quick. Also tracked 1/10 and quidco have recieved cash already.0

Just wondering if anyone has dealt with cashinmyfone.com. They offer good prices but just thought i'd check them out with you guys before parting with the phone.0

Just letting you know about my experience with 'Sell Old Phone' - came out on top of the charts for the price for an old k800i. Phone was in perfect working order (in fact still used it for the camera occasionally). Was quoted £27 so sent the phone recorded delivery. 7 days later they finally said they had received it and payment had been sent on 22/11.
Today I find a cheque for £15 at home - saying deduction for not including charger (ok that was my fault) and the handset had damage. Er, actually no. The handset was blo*dy excellent condition, I'd kept it in a phone sock for its one year life use and then stored it back in the box except to use the camera. They state in their terms that they will only return a phone to you if you don't want the cash of a 'similar condition'. Great - mine is marked as Grade B - damaged. They didn't even inform me of the downgraded payment I would receive before sending it.
After reading all these reviews and problems starting to wonder whether this recycling for money lark is actually a good idea. I feel slightly ripped off and a bit miffed.
My opinion - don't use 'Sell Old Phone'0
