I know people that do but I'd rather eat cardboard myself, just the thought of it makes me shiver!
Have you ever tried them sj? they are really quite good if you let them thaw properly. Not so good if you want to have a sneaky snack mid morning while they are still slightly frozen. :rotfl:
  • my parents used to do this when i was a kid. they would make up a whole loaf into ham sandwiches and then put each into individual packaging, then would take it out of the freezer the night before and thaw in the fridge. apparently they were still nice and cold until i ate them at lunch time in school.

    i never once noticed!

  • I freeze sarnies and rolls all the time when we get reduced bread. I make:

    cheese (grated)
    ham
    marmite
    jam
    lemon curd
    leftover chicken/beef/gammon
    peanut butter

DON'T freeze mayo based products, tuna, salad etc.

They are pulled out each morning and defrost thoroughly be breaktime/lunch.

  • For me personally I can't see much benefit to freezing sarnies.
I freeze bread but I defrost the amount I need and then make the sandwiches

I only do it when we have bought a loaf greatly reduced or reduced cheese/ham etc so not to waste them IYKWIM. It also makes it easier for me as I'm disabled and do a batch when im able too and it makes me feel like im contributing:o

I'd never thought of this- great idea. Good idea for busy working parents who need to prep packed lunches
    :j
I will give it a go- good also if you got lots of ham etc that will go out of date soon- great moneysaving

I make a loaf of bread on Sunday, slice it, turn it into sandwiches and freeze them. Home made bread wouldn't last a week unless I freeze it.

Yes I see what you mean - I rarely buy reduced cheese/ham cos I know I won't be able to use it up in time - I see where your coming from - good idea :)
