Ooh yes have had pate also!

Never bought pate before ... my MIL bought the wrong one in M&S and was going to throw it so I had it and made up sandwiches!

    It froze very well :)

Gosh - I started freezing sandwiches for lunch in batches when I first got a freezer - this was in 1983. So believe me, there is nothing new about it! My favourite has always been wholemeal bread with a slice of ham, a slice of cheese and some grainy mustard in between. These days I also use more newfangled fillings, like home-made hummus or sardines mashed with fromage frais.
It is always great to have plenty of sandwiches ready in the freezer - not only for work, but they also come in handy when going on a day walk or a bike ride or any other spontaneous outing.

  • anything too gooey doesn't work, mayo splits I think. Also banana didn't work too well, it went brown and slimey, tasted fine looked gross. Ham cheese and smooth pickle works well.
  • What about Salami?????

Ok, quick question (I know if anybody will have the answer, Old Style will)

I normally go out on a Thursday night, so I make my lunch for work for both Thurs and Fri on a Wednesday night. So I made my double rounds of sandwiches as usual.

This afternoon though and tomorrow I have been booked into meetings, which I found out today comes with lunch provided. As 'free food' are my 2 favourite words I couldn't say no!!!

Anyway, so this leaves me with 2 days worth of lunches in my fridge, and I absolutely hate throwing away any food at all!! I was wondering if I would be able to whack them in the freezer tonight and use them for lunch on Mon/Tue?

If it makes any difference they are on white bread, one with salad, cheese and chutney. The other with salad, turkey and cranberry sauce.

I've never tried this before but if it could save throwing away food, and save me 2 days worth of lunch money then surely it's worth a shot?

Anybody had any experience at all?

    Thanks

    Hi sKiTz,

You can indeed freeze sandwiches. This thread has lots of advice so I'll add your post to it later to keep the suggestions together.

Definitely take the salad out, it will go all squdgy as it thaws out.

When yu take them out make sure they stay in an airtight container to thaw out or the bread will be as dry as sticks.

I used to do cheese and onion, eggmayonnaise, ham, corned beef for the whole week on a Sunday night without any problem.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
