I freeze chicken fajita with grated cheese wraps and just add any salad once its defrosted. It saves so much time and $$$, no need for expensive shop brought lunches anymore.

    Great thread

Im thinking about trying to freeze chicken with gravy and beef with gravy sandwiches. Im not sure if its going to work or if it will end up like slop but im going to give it a go.

Im going to slow cook some chicken drumstick so the meat falls off the bone and mix that with a small amount of gravy. Let it cool and then put on a bread roll, not too much gravy just enough to keep the meat moist.

I then plan to freeze them and take them out of the freezer in the morning and hope that they will defrost by lunchtime although i do have a microwave at work if needed.

Do you think these will work?

    Thanks

I'm not sure if this has been covered before, my apologies if it has, I did do a search but...

Anyway, I was wondering what sandwich fillings can be made in advance and frozen whilst in a sandwich. My son only likes jam on his sandwiches, sometimes lemon curd but my husband and daughter are pretty much flexible.

So could I make a weeks worth of sandwiches on a Sunday to use during the week?

    Thank you in advance x

Depending on the filling (no salad, for instance ;) ) sandwiches can be frozen. There's a thread here; I'll add this one later.

Well, you can freeze bread. And you can freeze most of the ingredients I put in sandwiches, except salad veg! So, give it a wirl. Might go a bit soggy on defrosting but you never know till you try.

I have frozen sandwiches in the past, but have no need to do so now. As far as I can remember, salad items are no good, you need to take the sandwiches out the night before and add your tomatoes, cucumber etc in the morning. Or take the sandwiches out in the morning to be ready at lunchtime and put a salad up to take seperately.

Things like cheese, with sandwich pickle if you like, cold meats, pate and salmon or sardines freeze and thaw well.

I think food bags are good (value ones quite reasonable from Mr T) as is foil.

I am sure others will be along soon with more ideas.

    :)

I know people that do but I'd rather eat cardboard myself, just the thought of it makes me shiver!
