Penny, for your daughter's science, check with school what GCSE syllabus they follow, as there seem to be so many about.
There are some great web sites, has she tried the BBC bitesize?

Just had a thought, what year is she in, the BBC site may be the best as I think she is only in Year 7 or 8

Yep, we are in Blackpool, have you ever been to the Farmer's market? Some people we met told us about it. Mr Twit is working at Newman College at the moment.

No, I've only been to the one in Preston City Centre. Whereabouts is the Penwortham one? May visit it myself today.

(BTW DS was a Newman yesterday having a taster day! He will going there in September 09)

DD is up and feeling hungry so she is now munching on toast and jam. She looks and sounds much brighter than yesterday so that's a relief.

Annie, the directions we got are a bit vague.....from the docks, you go up the hill and when you get to the lights turn left....might not be the first set....it's at a school. Just checked, Mum's not online yet, she might remember a bit more.
I got the impression that it's close to the shops. I'll have a google and see if I can find out more, it's on the first Saturday of the month.

Sorry, St Mary's church hall, Cop Lane, Penwortham.

Penny-Pincher - huge (((hugs))) to you. Take plenty of care. :T :T to your DD!

    Aussie - love the dress

metherer - take care (not that you won't, but I'm sure you know what I mean :o ). Antony Worrall Thompson has regulated his with the GL diet. We have his GL diet book and frequently cook from it. This is also a good one.

It's MIL's 60th birthday tomorrow, so tonight we're going for a family meal in Oakham. FIL is paying, so this adds to my no spend week (bar the petrol!). It's quite a nice place that we're going to, so I'm trying to decide which dress  to wear. My wedding dress is not an option, so that leaves me with a choice of 2!!!! :D

We're now waiting for our wine delivery from Tesco. We get 1000 extra points, which is pretty good. :D And a load of wine. :j :j I must remember not to drink it with 2 packets of crisps though. Snowy has tried that experiment for us all. :D

    Morning all!

Very blowy here, was lovely and sunny, but now seem to be having sporadic showers. Sure weather will perk up as my mate has a golf competition and he always always seems to get good weather for them!

Had to go in for a quick op in the day care unit yesterday, felt fine when I came round then started to feel dreadful. Apparently I was one of the ones who react badly to the new general anaesthetic they are using, still at least it was all done and dealt with and there were no complications. Got home early afternoon and slept on and off, friend had to babysit me, bless her! OH got home early, hadn't wanted to worry him so hadn't told him I was going in, as it was a last min thing anyway, he wasn't best pleased with me, but I didn't need him fussing about it all beforehand! He took younger ones off to school pig roast and picked up fish and chips for big ones on the way home, was half awake by then and kids came and kept me company till bed time. Slept like the dead till morning, feel so much better today compared to how I have been feeling, slightly dopey and not quite with it though - at least it's a good excuse to laze around in bed on a Saturday for once!

Taking girls to see Kung Foo Panda later, hopefully will feel much more with it then, and dd1 wants to go via M&S for their meal deal as it includes salmon! Fingers crossed that they have plenty of stuff left as will stock up on a few bits, and a few bottles!

Not much os stuff planned today, oh has gone to the gym and left instructions for hoovering and dw duties with the children! Think I might have another snooze!

Hope everyone has a lovely day xx

    Good Morning :hello:

The weather is horrible here and looks like it will be raining for the next 5 days too!

Yesterday we received our KS2 Sats results at school and the grades are all over the place. One of my friends has been a marker this year and said that the new company responsible for the marking process have been TERRIBLE! She said that they have been desperate for markers and have recruited ex-teachers who have been out of the classroom for a long time and even students who have never taught! She has been teaching at my school for 18 years and has been appalled by the standard of marking and guidance from this company who are being paid a lot of money! If I had my way I would scrap the SATs, as my DD1 has been under terrible pressure from her 'middle class' primary school and has really resented the way she has been taught over the last term. Too much pressure on 10 and 11 year olds and mainly for the benefit of the school's postion in the league tables! Right rant over now :rotfl:

Today's plans include DD1 at orchestra, DD2 at swimming and then off into town to buy new school uniforms for them both. DD1 will be starting high school in september and her uniform will come to around £200! She needs so much stuff including a hockey stick! It is a lovely school and 500 girls applied for only 140 places so she was really lucky to get in. Just need to do some more money saving to pay for it! ;)

Then tonight it's the final episode of Dr Who! My 2 are worried that David Tennant is leaving and the rumours are that David Morrisey will be his replacement. This would be so funny as my last Headteacher used to teach him when he was growing up in Liverpool.:D
I'm not sure what today's meals will be as DH will be out for most of the day at his college reunion/pretend to be 21 again/compare grey hair etc:rotfl:
Hope it stops raining and you have a good day!:D

    Will catch up later.

Today, hopefully I can do some more baking. Going to a friend's house later, but feeling quite anti-social at the moment. Trying to work out how I can afford a new laptop...
