OS Daily Saturday 5th July 08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning folks.

Weather is pants, and was terrible yesterday with driving rain and cold temps.
I am glad tio say that all my July 4th cooking went well and was very delicious. I love Southern American cooking, but I can understand why some of the population in that area are a tad overweight.

I ended up doing Fried chicken. Much better than KFC
Fried catfish (except I did Pollack that I caught last month)
American beans, sweet onion coleslaw and sweet potatoes and cinnamon.
For desert, Key lime pie and also strawberry shortcake. Everything was pretty easy to make and delicious.... If you want a recipe then I can post one sometime.
I did not make the hush puppies, ran out of time really, For info they are basically the left over batter from the fish and chicken made into balls fried in fat.

Back to work after a week off. I know there will be 100 e-mails and a pile of work to be getting on with, so I think I will start early and have half a chance to get away a decent time.

Cheers

Good morning N9eav and all who follow!!

Busy day for us today, DD off to Truro for an adventure day with the youth club she goes to, so DS and i are going to have a 'mummy and son' day. We are going to go into Plymouth and get his new Arsenal shirt, and im thinking of maybe using the cinema ticket i won last month and going to see the new Will Smith film, Hancock!!

Havnt been very busy this last week, too many days again with no children, but my 2 new ones did start (only 6 hours a week, but its extra) and they are lovely lads, and have settled in so quickly, its as if they have always been with me!

The garden is looking good, i have some green tomatoes growing, just waiting for them to turn red now, and we are starting to eat the lettuce straight from the garden now, its so much better than the shops!!! Hopefully in the next few months, we will have loads of tomtoes, potatoes, red onions, runner beans and carrots to eat - they all seam to be growing, just waiting for it all to see if ive done it right!!

OK, off for a shower and get my clicks done before we need to drop DD off - im afraid i havnt read any of the thread for a few days now, so i hope everyone is well - love and hugs to anyone who wants/needs some xxxxx

:hello: Taplady and mrs mix :hello: to all xx

    Have a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Morning N9eav, Catowen and anyone who crosses and follows.

Up early to go to my tutorial in London. Might visit the Bravissimo shop after, however having spent £200 on the car yesterday am not too sure. It has it's MOT next month as well.

Didn't sleep too well, worrying about MIL. Managed to get in touch with Oh eventually as I phoned DSS GF in the end and they were all out together.

Hugs to all who want one this morning.

Just started raining, will be good for the allotment.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning all

Its unusual that I'm up this early on a weekend - how do you manage it??

Mind buzzing with all the diabetes info I've been reading, so thought I'd get up and make a start rereading it all. It WILL go in..!

Bethebee - thanks for your kind comment.

Not much planned today, might have a walk over to the nearest village to my town, but that depends on the weather.

    Have a good day all,

    Metherer

    Morning everyone,

It's been pouring here all day and freezing to boot. DH & I thought it was a good day to snuggle under the covers and watch Walk The Line. ;):D Had HM soup for lunch & made some Artisan Bread up this arv. It was a breeze to make up. It rose quiet well and after about 2 1/2 hours I put in the fridge. Will make my first loaf in the morning. Off to Mass tonight. Will give Patrick a ring shortly so he can pick me up on the way threw. It's stopped raining atm, but knowing my luck will start mid way to the ferry.

Here is the photo of my dress. :D I'm not very photogenic I'm afraid. It's quiet alright to say it looks awful too. :rotfl:I promise I will keep talking to you. :D Just. :p

N9eav Recipes for the key lime pie & beans please. I have some frozen lime juice in the freezer. ;)
Cat Hope you have a fun day.
Janny Try and not worry. Hope all goes well.

Will pop back later. Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Off out today. I also have a few things growing in the garding...intending to have a lot more next year. Tomatoes...hopefully (just got the flowers so far). My carotts are a disaster...the shoots come through and then disappear. Next year I intend to plant the seeds up in pots and then transplant them into the ground when they are bigger. Hopefully they'll be big enough for 'something' not to get them then.

No plans today whatsoever. I like days like this.

Tea is fish with some salad and new pots if I can be bothered when I get home.

Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.

    Morning friend,

BM on, lentils have been soaking overnight so will make some soup for lunch for DH, DD and SiL to be. Have defrosted a load of YS steak for a beef cass tonight. Just need to buy some veg today, I have been sending DH out with a shopping list, that way I don't get tempted to by extra stuff, the freezer is 3/4 full and I am determined to empty it as there's stuff in there I don't recognise, looks like we will be having some suprise dinners.

Sun has just come out so might get washing dried.

    Catowen, enjoy your day.
Jannyannie, Glad you contacted OH, try not to worry, your MiL is being cared for by the best people.
Metherer, There are loads of websites with info, there are lots of support sites. Take care.
Kyle, Hope L O feels better today, and you can manage to rest a little.

Huge Hugs Smokie, Penpin, Candygirl, Mrs. Mix, Annie. Sorry if I've missed anyone. x

    Good Morning All

Aussie - that dress didnt look as bad as I thought it would, saying that though I cant sew and only possess a needle to remove splinters.

Catowen - we are also enjoying lettuce from the garden for the first time, we do need to eat a lot of lettuce this week.

Nice and peaceful in the house at the mo, just about to jump in the bath then need to wake everyone up. DD has dentist today, is having 2 teeth removed under sedation so both OH & myself need to go and DS needs to be dropped off round a friends.

Weather isnt very nice here, quite dark and windy. I dont mind too much as have been neglecting my house lately but its not nice for those who have been at work all week.

Need to go and put spare ribs in the slow cooker, we are having barbeque ribs and chicken tonight.

Have a great saturday and (((hugs))) to everyone.

Good morning all before me and all to follow. Today my daughter is selling cakes at the school carnival - they've bought cheap fairy cakes and some icing and the idea is to 'ice-your-own'. DH is thinking he may also have to attend with the caravan awning as the weather report is not good and the girls can't relocate inside the school. DS is going to a birthday party at luchtime. B-i-l is coming over this afternoon and we're having pork medallions in chilli and cream sauce. I also want to make lemon cheesecake (it's hubby's fave) using a recipe I've had since home econimics classes at school and also a choc and banana bread and butter pudding using disastrous HM bread from yesterday (see breadmaking thread). Otherwise general tidying and picking up after people, you know how it is.
Hope you all have a happy and productive day.

Good morning all! Just a quickie, I have 10001 things to do, then the inlaws arrive soon ;)

Aussie - your dress looks lovely :T Love the fabric, too :j I've just finished DD's fancy dress costume (up since 6am  ) for tonight's party. Pics later ;)

Catowen - not seen you around for a while - enjoy your day with your boy - I don't do that often enough, either :o

Kyle - hope Lorrenzo is better soon. Wish we'd started our holidays :p

It's raining here, so no chance of barbeque tonight  Glad we had one yesterday :j :T

Have a great day, Penny. x
