can someone tell me what happened to the wow button, had not logged in for a week or so and now i acn not find it. has it been removed or is it just me !!!!

It was trialled on the comps board and then removed see https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3612599

however if enough people ask for it back they may implement it again as it is still under review

  • ADVENT ADVICE

Does anyone have any advice about entering the advent comps. I am a competition newbie, and having read ( most of ) the guide, I enter the normal comps in date order, and use the Thank, and enter buttons to make sure I don't miss anything. BUT, this doesn't really help me with the advent ones, and those that can be entered daily as there are so many ( not complaining ) . Does anyone have a good system or just general advice????
  • Try using the advent thread, it should be a sticky on the first page.

  • Is there an easy way to go from end-date comping to entering comps as they are posted? The only way I can think of is a brutal marathon comp entering session till I'm completely caught up:D

Not really, no. I found a couple of days off work sick and RoboForm (full version) made the job quicker but it was still a rather long slog!

The only think I did to try and speed things up, was sort the forum by newest posted, went right to the oldest post and opened anything I didn't want to enter on that page in a new tab so I could quickly go through, thank the poster, hit entered and close the tab.

It was then a case of filling in the gaps (i.e. one's which weren't ticked as entered) and then moving on to the next page and repeating the process, and the next page, and the next one and the next one...

It's a lot of effort intially but I much prefer it to end-by date comping.
    2009 Wins = £833
    2010 Wins = £6,597
    2011 Wins = £7,083

    £2,012 in 2012 = £450/£2,012
    20 in 2012 = 4/20

Nothing for it but a long hard slog gentleorange

however now is the best time of year to catch up as over 800 comps have been moved to GAME OVER from December and January is notoriously quite ;)

    Best of Luck :)
  • Hello!
How long did it take you to start regulary winning prizes? for example, ive been comping roughly 3-4 weeks now, and have won 2 (both were on blogs) but I know alot of the competitions i have entered have only just started ending. I hate not knowing whose won or if the draw has been done yet!

also, is there a way of finding competitions on peoples blogs? The 2 I entered were by people I already follow, but I can seem to search for any on google etc

    Hi queenlizard45uk,

I won after a couple of weeks of starting to enter (from a text comp - I don't tend to enter those now as they cost money whereas the vast majority of comps posted on here are free to enter).

Wins can be quick or it can take a while. As you mentioned, the comps you enter have to end... then winners have to be drawn... then winners have to be notified. Wins can be like buses though, none for a while then several at once. I don't tend to think about the comps I have entered (unless they are really big ticket items, then I daydream a lot!). I love the excitement of opening an email or getting a phone call from the company or my boyfriend (to say a package has been delievered & he can open it for me if I want him to, please? :D)

I personally don't know a good/quick way to find comps on blogs other than the ones already posted on here, but if you post that question in the Comps Discussion Thread some compers in there may be able to give you some ideas.

    Happy comping :)
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out
