i posted a comp from belenos therapy last night and they have now closed it early and have said this
DUE TO THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION POSTED ON MONEYSAVINGEXPECT.COM WE HAVE NOW CANCELLED ALL ENTRIES THAT HAVE COME THROUGH VIA THIS SOURCE.THIS DOES NOT EFFECT ANY ANSWERS SUBMITTED BEFORE 10.38PM SUNDAY AND WILL STILL BE ENTERED INTO THE DRAW ON 15TH MARCH.
http://www.belenostherapy.co.uk/competitionsandpromotions.html
so i guess it needs to go on the list
Thanks for your PMI've contacted the company to find out if it is answers or their actual comps they don't want on here. Will update the Guide as soon as I get a reply from them, but while I'm waiting I'll add them to the list with a *care* on it
*hugs* Thanks for that. I'm back at work now (restricted hours this week to recuperate from the op. still) but the PM meant I saw the info faster. Back to normal (long) hours from next week so PM's greatly appreciated
Edited to add: Wow, company have replied alreadyIn future.... OK to post their comps but not the answers. (I'll PM valkyrja in case she sees another next month from them)
Sad because you don't know what to do? :sad: Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Hello
I've found a couple of comps which I can't see posted on here (although I may just not be looking hard enough!) but when I try and post them I can't do a clicky, never used to have a problem with this so I guess it must be something to do with my new laptop
When I paste the link into the box brought up by the world icon thingy it still just pastes the whole long URL (if that's what it's called!) on to the page.
Any ideas why, anyone0 -
Hi,just post them without a "clicky".
No one will mind.0 -
This may be the wrong forum but not sure where else to ask this question. Do competititon prizes have to fit the 'Trade Description' laws? I 'won' a prize that was described as a 'Wine and Cheese Hamper', what arrived was one bottle of wine and a tiny piece of cheese wrapped in bubble wrap. I was expecting a 'hamper', something more. I wrote to the organisers who just said they couldn't afford to send out their 'hampers' but the prize was dsecribed as a 'hamper' so I really was expecting one. What do others think?0

Well I'd certainly be disappointed. Do you have a link to the original competition wording? I think it probably breaks the CAP Code bit about giving consumers information on the minimum number and nature of any prizes.0

CAP Code on prize promotions
The British Code of Advertising, Sale Promotion and Direct Marketing (known as 'the CAP Code') sets out certain additional rules which should be followed when running prize promotions.
The CAP Code applies to all marketing communications in print, cinema and video, as well as online advertising in paid-for space. It does not apply to broadcast commercials which are subject to the BCAP TV or Radio Advertising Standards Code, or to the content of premium rate telephone services which are regulated by PhonepayPlus (previously known as ICSTIS).
In addition to the general principles that advertising must be legal, decent, honest and truthful, the CAP Code requires that the following information is given to consumers before or at the time of entry into the prize promotion:- how to participate; if there is a free entry route, this must be clearly explained;
- the start date;
- the closing date in certain circumstances (eg if targeted at children);
- any proof of purchase requirements – or, where a promotion encourages but does not require purchase, a clear statement that no purchase is necessary and explanation of the free entry alternative;
- the minimum number and nature of any prizes, and whether a cash alternative can be substituted;
- any geographical, personal or technological restrictions (eg location, age, or the need to have access to the internet);
- any limit on the availability of promotional packs (if this is not obvious);
- the promoter's full name and business address;
- any restriction on the number of entries;
- how and when winner(s) will be notified, and when they will receive their prizes if this is more than 6 weeks after the closing date;
- how and when the results will be announced; winners' names must be published or available on request, but promoters must not publish excessively detailed personal information;
- the criteria for judging entries eg the most apt and original tie breaker; if the choice is open to subjective interpretation, then an independent judge (or a panel including one independent member) must be appointed, whose name must be available on request;
- who will own the copyright in the competition entries (if relevant);
- how entries will be returned (if applicable); and
- any intention to use winners in any post promotion publicity.

The original comp no longer seems to be on their site but this is the wording of the email they are sending out to subscribers about my win at the moment
"COMPETITION WINNER! Congrats to the lucky winner of our February fieldtofeast competition, C.Pearce from Frome, who won a scummy hamper full of wine & cheese! Keep your eyes peeled for plenty more competitions to win fieldtofeast artisan food throughout the year."
When they wrote to advise me of my prize they said this
"Dear Caryne,
Congratulations! You are the winner of the fieldtofeast hamper!"
Both these messages refer to a hamper, not one bottle of wine and a small piece of cheese.
How can I complain about this using the code you referred to above?0 -
