Oh candygirl, that's so pants. :( Really hope some luck comes your way soon, you really do deserve some. very poor show from your friend, I think she was cowardly rather than ill at the weekend. I know they are oblidged to interview and advertise positions by law, but it happens so often that people come in when an internal or other candidate has already been offered the position. OH had to do interviews for a position at his work when it had already been given to somebody - it's so dishonest and he was disgusted by it. Something will come along. ((hug))

I've just given into my craving for yoghurt and eaten 500 g of the stuff. As I'm lactose intolerant I know am going to be paying for it in a few hours. :o Ah well. Dr Jeckyll is AWOL again, so I'm going to be number crunching all afternoon, but at least in I'm in peace. I'm now eating a large packet of jelly babies (well, the green and yellow ones, I don't like the others) in the hope it will dilute the yoghurt a bit :D Will start on the fudge bar when I'm done :D (this is so a recipe for stomach upset! :rotfl: )

Churchmouse - glad you are feeling a bit better :)
 bargain rzl - welcome back - I know how you feel with the glasses - I can't see to find mine if I leave them somewhere. I want to get one of those devices built into them so they beep when I whistle like my house keys do. Have a great time in Paris :)

I wrote my first letter today asking for work experience. Feel a little bit like I'm back in Y10 :rotfl: I haven't had the nerve to post it yet as it is a big change, but it's a start. Why is it the older you get the harder it is to make changes?

Thanx everyone for the support here and the PMs, I am trying to reply back but can only send one every 10 mins now with the new forum rules:eek:  I'm popping out to see a true friend [STRIKE]hopefully[/STRIKE],in a few mins, but will reply to all the pms later :D:D
PENPEN there are no proper rules regarding supply work, so the freedom it gives is sometimes cancelled out by the unethical way we can be treated;)
CELYN I agree totally about the cowardly bit, since when is anyone too ill to text, unless seriously ill in hospital or something?Maybe old friends are just that, if we had meant to have been in touch for the past 3 years we would have been.I blame FACEBOOK for getting us back in touch :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: maybe that's why I call it FAKEBOOK, due to the hords of peeps contacting me who haven't given a toss about me for the past 20 years or so:rolleyes:

Candygirl, if you were meant to go to the school today and you haven't been told the job no longer exist, then I would turn up, you never know there may be another job vacancy at the school.

BTW, your friend, who may now be your ex friend, may have a large house, a millioniare husband etc etc, but is she happy and contented with life? because that is one thing you can't buy. I know you are experiencing alot just now with your dad, but you are so thoughtful and kind offering him the help he needs, you are worth far more than your ex friend anyday.

A gentle hug coming your way.

Churchmouse - well if you fancy stopping off in Somerset en route to anywhere I'll keep some sausage casserole for you, not sure it'd post well!

Kathy - my lot used to love Bamzookie, think the pooter was broken during their faze though, so never had to make one, prob just as well I'm not good at stuff like that!

Candygirl - I would suspect your friend of trying to put you off going for the interview for the job, at our school teachers are interviewed by a panel of governors as well as the head teacher, the head alone doesn't have the power to award jobs to anyone! And she might live in a big house, but she doesn't sound like a very nice person, and the house is next door to her MIL - eek, sounds like a punishment to me! Apologies to all lovely MILs, but I drew a short straw with mine!

I so agree... I got a friend request from a girl who made my life hell at school  Did she think I'd forget!??!

Ooops, we've just had a school party looking round the department - unfortunatly none of us are in the lab as we are all writing (it's quarterley report week) so there is nothing intreseting to see. All of us are tanked on caffiene sugar and a bit hyper - and watching things on youtube. Great advert for a career in science we are :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well i've just about had enough today:(:(I was in the middle of getting ready, this morning, when I got a call from a so called friend telling me it'd be a waste of time going for the look around the school today, as she had got the job.She used to work at the school, and had left years ago to have 4 kids.I spoke to her last week asking her what it was like, and knowing it was really too far for her to travel, but she went to a party at weekend, spoke to the head and got offered the job:rolleyes:
All that is fair enough, but the school and agency haven't even had the bollox to let me know. The agency to be fair didn't even know about this, so I would have turned up today, for no reason at all
The laugh is she doesn't even need the money, her hubby has a very successful business, and she knows I am absolutely broke at the mo, and supply work is scarce in Sept:(
I think I can now count her as an ex friend:o :o
Anyway added to which Dad is barely eating, and deteriorating rapidly. He had the stairlift put in yesterday, and got a walker etc, but he is so weak.Maybe it is fate I didn't get the job now:(
Anyway I know my probs are trivial in comparison to a lot of yours on here, so HUGGLES to all who need them today, esp ANNIE, PENPIN, BETH, PAM and anyone else I've not mentioned, cos I haven't read the thread yet.:o :o:o

candygirl--- I would be furious as well! That girl is so mean spirited, what a nasty thing to do. How can the head do a interview at the party?? I thought this sort of process was checked by others in edcuation. is there a hr department? I thought someone would audit this interview process??

anyway, some thing better will come along for you and as for your ex friend she sounds quite a b****h. My dad used to say 'those who have get more' and this is certainly the case with her greed! she has surrounded herself in bad karma, not a very nice place to be!!!

anyway, hugs to you and thinking of your dad xxxxx

    Afternoon all

CANDYGIRL what a b*g. I would contact the school direct and ask them outright. Hugs to you and your DDad.

TATTYCATH hope your DD is ok, she seems to have been having tests for a long time.

Had a long chat to the OH nurse. He agrees I'm not ready to go back to work yet, just the thought of it brings back all my stress and anxiety. He will write to my boss and let her know. Need to make an appointment at the dr's tomorrow for another sick note. I have never seen so much of her! Also need to contact the work-based counselling service to arrange some sessions. I went to see them before for bereavement counselling and they are really good.

Went to the allotment and it rained, not that i'm complaining. Have a glut of rhubarb so have brought some home to freeze. Really do love my little robin who hops around my feet.

DS has come home in a really grumpy mood. He's just so tired. Don't know how you teachers do it.

Off to review some more articles before tea. Have a good night all.

    Hi Tru
Anniebooklover, I know what you mean about providing ID, hubby is registered blind & has been asked for a driving licence on many occasions, the best one was at the railway station, not long after his accident & he was using his white stick!
Work has been interesting, we have a VVV (violent vomiting virus) going round & the kids are dropping like flies. We also had the new head & the old head in today, the old head has been throwing his toys out the pram all day & blocking the new heads access to the school building. I do understand rhat as I work in a school I have to expect to deal with children, I just don't expect that to include the staff.
