Would appreciate any and all feedback... is 50ppl, fixed for 2 years a decent rate right now? Bulk metered estate, around 30 homes in Kent.

Flogas shifted a little to get to that, but not convinced will go further. My sense is that it's a decent rate.. maybe not the very best but they are pretty good these days and a 2 yr fix very preferable when larger groups involved.

    thx

Well it isn't bad, but for a bulk deal involving 30 homes I would hope to do better. I'm on 47p/l and one would think 45p achievable. Tried a little phoning around? Tried LPG Save?

Our village buying group (Hampshire) of some 15 homes has a deal with our local independent at 48ppl.
  • Hi New to forum and looking for some advice if possible regarding LPG.

Have recently purchased a property with LPG heating and unsure of average consumption. When getting quote it seems to be information they need to know.

    Have spoke to;

    LPG save @ 55ppl
    £80 tank rental
    fixed for 12month

    JGAS @ 48ppl
rental and standard charge 21p per day
    fixed for 24 months

    both estimates

Both stating consumption should be 2500ltr per annum… It is a 260m2 property built in 1983 with 35kw boiler and 15 radiators. I think there consumption is not very accurate.

The EPC is stating 12k every 3 years but I know these certifications are pointless.

    Can anyone help ?

We also have a wood burner in the living room so this will be the main heating source in the winter months for the ground floor.

Based in North east Scotland Aberdeenshire area so unsure if any other suppliers cover this area ?

My old property was kerosene all though it was significantly smaller it was built in late 1800s with concrete floor and some sandstone internal walls. We used to fill the tank twice a year. Normally fill around April and again November time. So approximately 2500ltr

So ..annual consumption in litres is quite hard to calculate, because so many variables. My house is a bit larger sq.ft than yours but the (new) boiler is 30Kw, similar radiators. We also have a woodburner; and use lpg for the gas hob, hot water and radiators. I have found that:

    - the gas use from the hob is negligible and can be discounted
    - hot water ditto, ours is set to come on for a couple of hours twice a day
    - heating the radiators is the biggie. But this depends on (a) how warm do you want the house? Ours set to 18degC. (b) What insulation do you have? Cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, triple glazing.. all have an impact. (c) most important of all, what's it like outside? Our heating is set to come on all year but in the summer it never comes on at all. So zero usage.

In summary, that means you only need gas purchases in winter, more or less. Our tank is quite big (2,200l) and is currently at 70%. I won't need any more until November, probably .. but the weather can have a surprising effect, either way.

I would say I use 3,000l pa, but that is very hard to prove or disprove.. buying a tankful in January (or December) changes things a lot!
Gas suppliers will be happier, the higher the figure you quote. If you tell them 10,000l they will soon see that it isn't so. But if you say 3,000l or even 3,500l they will never bother to calculate if you are on that target or not, and it will only take a cold spell one autumn, to prove you accurate... having teenage females in the house, or regular guests that like a bath, will bump up consumption too, quite likely :-)

That is AvantiSpeak for "Get lost, we don't want you here." Avanti used to be Shell fuels .. I am beginning to think they want to close themselves down completely, as Shell themselves have done with their retail electicity business..
Time  for you to move on, I hope you have enough in the tank for a little research and comparison shopping ..

Seems to be about par for the course at present. Was the quote from Flogas themselves? If so it would be worth a call to LPG Save, to see if they can beat it.
