As someone who has had bulk LPG for nearly 40 years (and been with at least 6 different suppliers), I can tell you that it is a minefield.  Flogas have a reputation for being one of the harder suppliers to deal with.  You really do need to get all of the facts together before challenging them legally.
I wish you luck, but there is some good advice from LPG users on this forum.
At least your current ppl is more reasonable, but do check about what increases can be applied to your "Fixed Contact".
Hilarious isn't it really. Its like HSBC saying, 'you know that fixed rate mortgage you took out last year, well we've had a pandemic and have to cut some costs so we're going to double your interest payments'
Or actually worse, than that, just change your interest rate and don't bother to tell you.

I can't prove the letters didn't get to me, but as Flogas have two email addresses and two mobile numbers, you'd think they'd want to be transparent and honest, and that they'd make every effort to contact you if you were going to see a 160% increase in 12 months.

Maybe i'm naive about the transparency and ethics of a national company though.

Not so much a "national company" but the whole unregulated LPG industry!

Indeed, we've never had LPG before, so I had no idea what to expect. It wasn't this!

Indeed, I really do sympathise. Like some others here, I have had twenty years of it or more. Sometimes I tend to forget that other forms of heating might involve nothing more than pressing a switch. And I certainly had my days of 50p+ per litre, until I found out what was going on, and took the trouble to fight back and to learn their ways.
LPG is the best, cleanest and most efficient of all the fossil fuels. It is worth persevering with. But the suppliers are not on your side. Take it as a chellenge. It can be fun, it can all be good, if you are up for it  ..

    > avoid budget schemes or monthly charges like the plague. Pay individually via a direct debit for each fill, against an invoice provided
    > avoid automatic top ups, don't even let them install the equipment that allows it.
    > go for a two year fix and manage your account online through the website. Order online, when you need it
    > *check the contract carefully*, clause by clause. *Refuse* any clause that allows for an unlimited increase. Cross it out, before signing.
    > Keep a close eye on the supplier at all times. Leave nothing in their hands to look after.
    > Make sure your tank and the pipework to the house is fully compliant. If it isn't, the current supplier has a legal responsibility to make it so. Be sure they do ..

  • I have just spoken to Calor to ask what the benefits are for signing a contract. They said the price will be the same and it’s a matter for me. Not all that helpful
Maybe you’re not asking the right people the right questions?

If you need to know the real facts & details, go straight to the source of the issue, not the narrative that’s been fed to you first hand, that’s biased.  The Source 😉.

It’s often the only way to know how otherwise you’re stuck with it and it will be very costly down the line (more than it already has been)...

    Think about it 🤔

Hi all, after some advise please. I’m a customer of a AvantiGas and have just come to the end of my 12 month fixed rate which was 32ppl and now up to 38ppl. First problem is that they filled my tank just before Christmas when I was already at 65% so left with a bill I wasn’t expecting at a time when money’s tight. Secondly I asked for a gas fill at the start of March to try and get last fill of my 32ppl rate and they told me I had to wait until I was at 25% (I was at 28%) which wasn’t the case before Christmas.

My argument is now that my rate has just gone up I’ve got a text saying they are delivering gas this coming week and I feel like I’ve been conned and they have planned this as last week I was at 20% and they told me they were coming but have obviously waited until the rate goes up today. Where do I stand with this?

Well you are in a learning situation...
first thing to do is to manage your Avanti account online. Register on the site ... it puts you in more control
Also tell them you do not want a budget account, or regular topups. Tell them you will let them know when you want to order gas. This is quite normal, and if you leave it to them .. well, you have seen what will happen.
Third thing to do is to make a diary note for about 6 weeks before your current contract is due to expire. Phone round, read the previous posts here, and find yourself a two year contract that doesn't put you into their hands after 12 months ..

Good luck! Your pricing is not so bad even now, so no great harm has been done
When you have time pour a glass of something and read through the last ten or twelve pages of this forum. Everything you need is there

Is anyone else having problems with extracting gas from Flogas? Here is my log:

30 March 2021:    bulk gas delivery ordered online

30 March:            confirmation of order received, for delivery by 13 April

15 April:             no delivery. Phoned 0800 574574 and spoke to Steve, who said that the gas would be delivered tomorrow, Friday 16th.

20 April:              no delivery. Phoned and spoke to Jay who said there would be a delivery that day, about 1pm.

21 April:             still no delivery. Phoned and spoke to Mandy, who said she would find out what was happening and phone me back.  She phoned me back c2pm and said the gas would definitely be delivered tomorrow.

22 April:            No delivery. Phoned at 14:30pm. Spoke to Terri and she said she would escalate it. And would phone me back today.

To me this smells like a failing business. That is four specific delivery dates they have failed to meet.

I recommend you steer well clear of Flogas, for now at least.

I have a call out to Robert Flaxman too and will report back if and when anything interesting happens.

Meantime I am down to about 5% gas

A tad dramatic.  Flogas are part of DCC Plc which reported revenue of £14bln and net income of £254m in 2020.

One customer with delivery issues does not indicate a failing business.

I ordered gas on the 16th March and it was delivered on the 22nd March.
