Any cheap deals out there. I am paying 40p with Fogas + a £64pa underground tank charge.
Just got a few quotes @ 35.5p a litre & £120 a year on the underground tank pa. + £100 free gas from "Avanti"
Why twice the price on tank charges ???

Don't forget to get 24 month quotes, not 12 + hike.
£64pa is very cheap for an underground tank.
Get a quote from lpg-save, Robert Flaxman .. his quotes are hard to beat. https://www.lpg-save.co.uk/

Hi, thanks for that. Have tried LPG save, LPG Solutions & LPG Compare & i am not sure if they are the same company, as they all come back with a 2 year contract & fixed price for 1 year at Avanti gas at £120 a year on tank rental & 35.5p per lt. So i gave Calor a call & told them the price & they are £92 tank rental & 35p per litre fixed for 2 years with no increase. So i went with Color. Not a major saving, but £90 per tankful for 1/2 hours work.
This was with the salesman saying i will check with my manager to get this price. "Do people still fall for this" lol

LPG-Save has never, ever been known to provide a quote for any company but Flogas. Flaxman is an ex-employee. Are you quite certain it was them you contacted?!
Still, 35p for a 2 year fix is not bad going I think.. well done

Strange, i have an email with Avanti on it & just got a contract in the post for flogas. "Who i am with" What they call a re introduction. But, must admit i will now go to Calor.
Flogas accounts department are absolutely useless. A large percentage need sacking. 14 days is a time on an email reply.
I have a friend that sacked 3 of his staff for not replying to emails within 4 hours. This did create a loss of nearly 8K. Three customers went else ware as they didn't get a reply.

I am sure you will find Calor's accounts department perfect in every way ... :D
Best stick to doing it on price.
You seem to know your way about - but a reminder to avoid monthly budget schemes, and telemetry or similar, but just to order what you want when you want it and pay in full post delivery, never goes amiss..

Interestingly, I tried LPG Save yesterday for my 2500 litres per annum.  They came back and quoted 33ppl and £60 pa tank charge, fixed for two years with Flogas.

Since I already pay 33ppl and no tank charge with my local independent, I shan't be moving!

  • Morning All,
Letter arrived from JGas on Friday: "As you will probably be aware from the Media, the cost of most raw materials since Brexit have increased significantly and we have subsequently received a constant stream of emails from our suppliers, informing us of large increases, and in some cases, non-availability of products.

As a consequence, we will need to increase our daily standing charge by 5.47 pence per day, effective from 8th September 2021.  We are sorry" etc etc. Any grammatical errors are due to JGas, not me. I've just copied from the letter!

Standing Charge is £60 ex VAT just now, having been £48 from the time we joined JGas in October 2016, till sometime between August and November 2019. I only noticed the increase in February 2020. Apparently every customer was sent a letter notifying of the increase - but we didn't get it. Thankfully I've got this one!

Our whole reason for moving to JGas in the first place was because the Standing Charge was reasonable, and we felt could be justified. I realise costs of nearly everything have gone up, but I cannot see how a £20 increase can be justified - especially since our gas tank never seems to get anything done to it.  Please will somebody explain to me what all is covered under the "umbrella" of the Standing Charge? I was told once, many years ago, (by Flogas I think) that it was for the driver checking everything was in order with the tank. Surely there must be more to it? Thanks.
