The_Hornet said:Well I've just had a letter from the nice people at Flogas telling me that the fixed price year of my 2 year contract is coming to an end and the price will be going up. I'd negotiated a maximum 5p cap in year 2 but to my surprise the cost is going up from 35p/l to 38.5p. Surely it's unheard of for Flogas to apply a smaller increase than they can get away with!
What a strange world we live in!

I got my "Welcome to Flogas" email today so presume I am officially a customer now, although I haven't had a contract signed by them yet. They included a link to Trustpilot and I was interested to see that overall, Flogas' rating is about as good as it gets on Trustpilot, at 4.4 out of 5. Can it be that <gasp> Flogas is not really so awful, after all?!

Thanks for the advice to insist on a two year fix (or at least try to!!) Our contract ended in July, we had quotes from existing supplier (Avanti) at 33ppl plus unlimited increased in year 2 (!) and Calor, at 35ppl and I think a 3.5ppl cap on year 2 increase.
I confess life got in the way and I didn't end up signing up with any, then had a letter from Avanti on Monday saying my price was going up 3ppl, and a text from them yesterday saying they were delivering today. Damn work getting in the way of me sorting out the LPG supply!
I did have a good quote from Extra Gas, but they couldn't guarantee to send a smaller tanker (we're pretty rural down a long narrow lane, Avanti send a 7.5 tonne I think). What would they have done - just sent an 18 tonne truck then charged me when they couldn't get down the drive?? I assume they just didn't want the business?
Thanks for the advice to stop automatic top ups too. I've just this year managed (after LOTS of faffing) to get them to stop a monthly direct debit, so I pay when they deliver, but at the minute it looks like they're still choosing when to deliver. Must get on the case!0 -

Must get on the case!I've just renewed my contract with Flogas after the nice people at LPGSave got in touch offering to provide a renewal price. As per my earlier post I checked if clause 8.4 of the agreement applies and LPGSave confirmed in writing that it does not. I also wrote this on the contract I signed and returned. So when the new contract starts I will be on 33.5ppl (+VAT) "fixed" for two years.@Cheery_Daff - I had similar issues with Flogas when I joined them in 2018, they were topping up my tank automatically even though I'd selected manual top-up on my contract which I wasn't happy about (bit of a license to print money as they can keep topping up your tank when they are in the area). I also selected to pay for each delivery in full by direct debit.

(Though the first tankful I ever bought was 10p/l, in 1997!)Everyone, be sure to register online on the supplier's website, and check what your account settings are to make sure your contract terms were entered into their system correctly. The ability to control your account via the internet is a real benefit, imo.If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..1

Just had Flow Gas increase my rate by 5P to 40p a liter. & they also now want payment up front for my next delivery. They have done this because i hadn't paid the 1/4 standing charges for the last 3 times "i thought it was on direct debit". But i am on pay as you go & in the last 10 months i did not get one reminder. I only noticed the dept as i logged on for a top up & see the outstanding invoices. Flogas must have useless accounting staff to not send reminders on 3 outstanding invoices.
OK, this is my fault, but not good practice by them. Will move again after this fill up. Its the only way to save money & each time i move i save at least £125 for 1/2 hours work. Makes me feel like i am on £250 an hour. lol.0 -
Just joined Avanti. For the volume I use 3-4000 litres per year the deal they gave me was:-31 PPL + VAT year 1
36 PPL +VAT year 2
This gives a two year average of 33.5
They were very clear there were no clauses in the T&Cs that they can raise prices for increased operating costs or wholesale gas price increase.0 -
Just renewed, tried LPG Save but they could only come-up with 34 per litre for first 12 months and 3 p cap for second year. This was with Flogas, they are my current supplier and service has been awful so didn't want to proceed.
Tried a few other options and best was LPG solutions, Steve from that company came up with the best deal, 30p fixed first 12 months then 35p for second, tank rental £110 pa so have gone with that. I also have the option to carbon offset by choosing bio LPG for 4p per litre extra. I can choose to do that at any point during the contract so may do it.
We use 4k litres pa.
