  • For interest, I got a quote from LPG save as I will be moving supply in due course.
Only one quote given-  supplier Flowgas 35p per litre fixed for two years.
However, if you read the detailed terms and conditions, there are still quite a few opportunities for them to wiggle out of the fixed price if they choose to.
    Buyer beware.

Which clause is that? I have the Flogas contract in front of me .. only clauses 8.3 and 8.4 refer to the gas supply price, and the fixed price they have quoted me specifically states that it overrides those two clauses.
So I cannot see any wiggle room at all. Can you tell me what they could do to put the price up?
If what I said helped you, please "Thank" the relevant post. It cheers me up somewhat..

I too had a quote from LPG Save, offering 35ppl for two years etc etc. Didn't like Flogas when we dealt with them before, so unlikely to go with them again - unless terms hugely more "customer-favourable". Have still to go back to JGas and ask why Standard Charge went from 10.96p per day to 16.44p per day without notification. Their last quoted price was 36.7 ppl, which is not bad - but feel they could do better in current climate  Been out of contract for nearly two years, and no complaints of JGas other than raising SC without notifying.  Hope for decent discount given circumstances. Will try to remember to keep you informed.
Incidentally, contacted Woldlink through website on 6th August and then 10th September. So far heard nothing. Did ask if they contract to customers in Aberdeenshire. Plan to phone in next couple of days and, if price is right, ..!  Phoned Gleaner but their price was far too high - agreed by woman on phone!

My contract with Flogas finishes at the end of November, I'm currently paying 40p + VAT per litre after Flogas increased the price to the full amount they were able within the terms of the contract as soon as I entered the second year of the contract. I queried the price increase and asked for proof that the wholesale price had increased but all I received in response was an email stating that their running costs had increased and as stated in the contract they were able to increase the price.

My initial price with Flogas was 35p + VAT per litre which I got through LPG Save, I've heard that Robert Flaxman is or was a Flogas senior employee so I wouldn't be surprised if there is something of a relationship between the two companies.

I've asked Flogas if they can give me a renewal price but they have declined to discuss this with me until I'm 30 days away from the end of the contract.

I've had a ring around of some of the companies and these are my results from round one, for information I have an above ground 1250 litre tank? and use almost 2,000 litres of LPG a year in a 3 bedroom bungalow occupied by one adult.
    1. Callow Gas (local supplier) - variable rate, currently 39ppl (rental £60 per year)
    2. Wold Link (supplying thru Avanti) - 40ppl (rental £69.30 per year) - 2nd year cap at 46ppl
    3. Avanti (direct) - 41ppl (rental £66 per year) - 2nd year cap at 47ppl
    4. Calor Gas #1 - variable rate, 36ppl (rental £63.07 per year)
    5. Calor Gas #2 - fixed rate, 37ppl (rental £63.07 per year) - 2nd year cap at 40.5ppl
I'm located near Worcester - WR6 postcode area.

My plan is to ring around them closer to renewal and see if I can better the price as many of you on here are paying less with the same suppliers...

It was 8.3  and 8.4 as you said -
8.3. ...... “every so often we will have to introduce changes to your price”
8.4 “we will apply a cap of 12PPL”
Despite the agreement stating fixed for two years, the terms and conditions then contradict this.
Nowhere in the contract I have here does it say the agreement clause overrides this.
Therefore by signing the contract you also agree to section 8.3 and 8.4.
I have enough experience with them now to suggest if wholesale gas prices go up, I would be surprised if they didn’t  exercise these clause.
It would be a pleasant surprise to be proved wrong!

In my experience the price will go up automatically to the maximum allowed in the contract on day one of year two (with Flogas)

I got in touch EPG-Save and was quoted:
Year 1 & Year 2 Gas Price: (Flogas) 34p per litre fixed for the full 24 months of the Supply Agreement (+ vat @ 5%)
Tank Rental / Standing Charge: Above Ground LPG Tank @ £60pa / 16.4p per day + vat @ 5% (payable in arrears), including ‘FREE Telemetry Unit’.
    £40.00 M&S Gift Card.
I also got in touch with Flowgas directly:
    New 2 year supply agreement

    35.00ppl + VAT Fixed for 12 months

    5p cap in year two.

Standing Charge - £80.00 + VAT per annum

I've emailed the pics to Robert Flaxman but no reply yet so I've just ordered 10 x 25kg bags of premium ovoids :o)

Update - just had a sales call from Avanti asking if I wanted to go ahead, I told them that their price was above what I was expecting to pay and that I'd been offered a lower price from a competitor. They didn't even haggle and said that 41ppl was the best they could offer due to the area I live in, but to call them again in two years when my new contract is up.

I emailed Calor in Plymouth this morning and told them the previous owner of this house had a con-tract with them for bulk LPG and that she paid 56ppl earlier this year. I also informed them of the offers I had received from LPG-Save (34ppl) and Flogas direct (35ppl)
They offered me 39.90 pence per litre + VAT fixed for the first 12 months. standing charge 17.28 pence per day + VAT which works out at £66.23 a year.

May I ask who your local independent is please in case they do my area?
    Thank you
HBS Chilbolton - Just Google for further info.

    Basically cover Hamphire Wiltshire

May I ask what price they quoted you please, they said to me today for 3000 litres per year

    - It will be 45ppl ex VAT, there is no tank charges or delivery charges.
It will be a 2 year contract and as long as the prices do not go up it will stay at 45pp ex VAT, capped at no more than 3p increase on the second year, we would only increase the price however on the second year if the wholesale price increased.
