Student loans for masters?
Course I am looking at has tuition fees of £10,500; on student loans company website it says you are entitled to £10906.00 for masters courses. So that means then over the whole year I would have £406 as effectively a living costs loan? Making part time work absolutely essential?

Paying back student loan
Hi, I am currently applying to do a PGCE course and I would get a £9,000 bursary. How beneficial would it be to spend that money paying back some of my student loan or would it not be beneficial at all?

Summer Council Tax Charge
Wondering if anybody can help me? I'm studying full time with the OU, live alone and work 40 hours a week. I'm exempt from council tax while studying, which has been fine with the local council up until now. UNITE Students Advance Rent Payment
Hi so I'm in the process of moving out from a UNITE Students property and remembered that before I 'secured' my room, I had to pay something which they call an 'advance rent payment' and claim has replaced deposits. However, the definition of a deposit is putting down a smaller amount of money in order to secure a…

Is this a scam? Laureate Online Education & University of Liverpool MSc programmes
Hi there, I've enrolled in one of their MSc programmes, but I have concerns and I am worried if this might turn out to be a scam!? Most of the so called "faculty" staff I have deal with seem sales and definitely not based in the UK! None of the issues raised are being resolved or looked at, but in the same time they are…

Student Loans help?
Hello! I got a letter today saying in the past year £1878 was applied to my student loan due to interest. I dropped out of university in 2015 nearing the end of my second year due to mental health, and haven't had a job meeting the earning requirements to start paying it back. I haven't worked at all in the past 2-3 years…

Anyone had any luck negotiating Student Loan Settlement Offer?
Hello I've been given another settlement offer from the student loans company, it is a lot lower than last years offer so I am very tempted. I was just wondering, has anyone successfully haggled them down on the settlement offer? I think I will probably be deferring next year, so they may offer an even lower one then, but…

The student loan system is absolutely diabolical..
I've posted a thread on here before about this but it just baffles me how the system has been designed.... Student A borrows £36,000 to go to University. Student leaves university at age of 21 and starts a job on a salary of £15,000. Student has a relatively successful career with an increasing salary and by the age of 51…

Not all repayments counted
I have just had my statement through from SLC for last year. It looks to have only taken off about half a years worth of payments off me. I changed jobs half way through the year so suspect that it has only counted one of them, however my repayments have been coming off every month. Any advice on how to rectify this?

I am not happy with Plan 1... am I the only one here?
So I am on the Plan 1 repayment option for Student Loan (Pre 2012). Where the amount I pay each month is directly proportional to the amount I earn. 9% of anything over £18.935K or something like that. If I get pay rises, I pay more. If I get a Bonus, I pay a hell of a lot more.... as well as income tax, and NI etc. This…
