Erudio Student Loan not deferred

My Wife has a student loan from 1997 that was sold to Erudio Student Loans. She has never earned over the £25,725 threshold since graduating, however failed to defer her loan every year.
Erudio are now saying that as she failed to defer it she has to pay back the loan in full. Is this correct?

The threshold of £25,725 applies to loans taken out from 2012 onwards. It's nothing to do with loans taken out in 1997. There is a threshold for those loans though which is currently £32,347. Yes they are correct. Pre-1998 loans (otherwise known as mortgage-style loans) had to be deferred annually.
