Student finance Wales postgraduate grants
Hi guys, I only found out today about the grants that are available to students living in Wales (I’m welsh and live in Wales by the way, and would be entitled to the full £6,885). Unfortunately, I won’t have enough time to register for the course (Masters degree course) starting in October 2019. So, I guess I will have to…

Repaying early/refinancing: mathematical/political advice needed!
Overview: I'm about to commence my career in September after graduating two years ago. Hence, I am looking into all my financial affairs whilst I have time. I am debating the refinancing my SL by having my parents take out a loan to pay off my SL in one go, and me paying them back at a lower interest rate. Is this a good…

Repayment view
Hello all, I have a decision to mate which I am finding very difficult , as much psychologically as rationally and so would be very grateful to hear other views. My situation is that I am in a position to repay my loan and it seems to make sense to do so on a financial basis. I have a loan taken out in 2014, which as I…

Student Loan for 1 year Postgraduates worth it?
As part of a career change going into teaching, I will be going back to University (after 15 years) to study a PGCE for 1 year. I am English and will study in an English University. Two thirds of the course are actually spent working in schools, with only around 6 weeks of the total year spent in University. Nevertheless,…

Student Finance Wales
Hello We live in Wales and would therefore need to apply to Student Finance Wales (SFW) if our daughter decides to go to University. If she goes, she will be starting in September 2020. I have checked the SFW website and although there is some information it does not answer all of our questions and has left us scratching…

How is interest calculated?
Wondering whether anyone could shed some light on how SLC calculate how much I get charged each month in interest. For example, take a random month from my statement last year: The balance is 64,054.57 at the start of the month. They add 160.93 interest at the end of the month based on a 3.10% interest rate. Now let's try…

Student finance repayment when working in Scotland.
I hope this is the right place to post. I currently live in England and am going to university in Scotland in September. Martin is spreading misinformation - interest rates kill
Martin's misinformation I am fed up of hearing Martin go on TV, as the so called 'voice of reason', bleating about how Student loans are perfectly fine, that they don't have to be paid back unless you're earning above a threshold, and even then it's a % of the threshold. He coats it in fluff and make it sound as if student…
