Repaying early/refinancing: mathematical/political advice needed!
Overview: I'm about to commence my career in September after graduating two years ago. Hence, I am looking into all my financial affairs whilst I have time. I am debating the refinancing my SL by having my parents take out a loan to pay off my SL in one go, and me paying them back at a lower interest rate. Is this a good…

Repayment view
Hello all, I have a decision to mate which I am finding very difficult , as much psychologically as rationally and so would be very grateful to hear other views. My situation is that I am in a position to repay my loan and it seems to make sense to do so on a financial basis. I have a loan taken out in 2014, which as I…

Student Finance Wales
Hello We live in Wales and would therefore need to apply to Student Finance Wales (SFW) if our daughter decides to go to University. If she goes, she will be starting in September 2020. I have checked the SFW website and although there is some information it does not answer all of our questions and has left us scratching…

How is interest calculated?
Wondering whether anyone could shed some light on how SLC calculate how much I get charged each month in interest. For example, take a random month from my statement last year: The balance is 64,054.57 at the start of the month. They add 160.93 interest at the end of the month based on a 3.10% interest rate. Now let's try…

Martin is spreading misinformation - interest rates kill
Martin's misinformation I am fed up of hearing Martin go on TV, as the so called 'voice of reason', bleating about how Student loans are perfectly fine, that they don't have to be paid back unless you're earning above a threshold, and even then it's a % of the threshold. He coats it in fluff and make it sound as if student…

Student loans for masters?
Course I am looking at has tuition fees of £10,500; on student loans company website it says you are entitled to £10906.00 for masters courses. So that means then over the whole year I would have £406 as effectively a living costs loan? Making part time work absolutely essential?
