Advice about heart/activity monitor
I'm trying to build my stamina after an illness. I have a condition where my heart beats too fast. Not death defyingly fast but I do have to keep an eye when exercising so I'm after a gadget. :j:rotfl: (me exercising!) I'm after something waterproof that will record my heart rate accurately. I need to be able to use it in…

Pruhealth & Virgin Active
I've never been a gym goer as I've always worked out at home using p90x, Insanity and similar. However, 2 years of doing that fairly relentlessly has ruined my knees. Now I need to do something lower impact for the forseeable. Though the idea of gym and machines doesnt really appeal, swimming does. The nearest pool to me…

Pre-half marathon meal?
Hi all, I'm running my first half marathon in a couple of weeks, and not sure what I need to eat before hand. While training, I do most of my runs in the afternoon/evening (because of work and other commitments), but this one will be at 10 am? Normally I'd have porridge for breakfast, reasonable lunch (eg baked potato and…

Ariel training, silks and what not, stab in the dark!
Wondering if anyone may possibly know if there are any Ariel training classes/ studios in the West Midlands? I tried some training towards it whilst in America over the summer and fell in love with it! I know it's a very difficult thing to learn so would love to actually start at a place that creates on the ground workouts…

Please suggest Trainers for Metafit, Body Combat™ etc.
My trusty K-Swiss tubes are going home, the tubes at the ball of each foot are coming of due to side to side nature of many exercises. I have been told that running shoes are not the best thing for side to side stuff and that tennis shoes may be better for my knees. Anyone got any suggestions?

Any recommendations for home treadmill?
Looking to buy a good treadmill for use at home. Folding would be good (but not essential as it is going in the garage). I'd like one that allows me the option to set a distance, monitor time/speed/distance, change the incline and has some sort of cushioning. I was looking to spend around £500-800, a finance option would…

Reasons to go to the gym/exercise
Why do you keep going to the gym/exercising? I wanted to write mine down so I can look at them when I just feel too tired, too lazy or just too idle. i) top reason - I feel better about myself, going to the gym regularly makes me feel more in control of my life regardless of whether I see any results. That puts me in a…

Thinking about strength training
I've lost a significant amount of weight (although I still have a bit to go) and I'm starting to think more about things like loose skin when I reach a healthy weight. I've been doing lots of exercise, mainly cardio and circuit training, but I gather that the best way to "hide" loose skin is to build up a little muscle to…

Triathlon training newbie! Any advice welcome
Hi everybody I have recently signed up to do a local triathlon. It is something I have always fancied doing, so when I found out there was a very local one, I jumped at it. It is only a small one so ideal as a starter/taster. 400m swim, 10mile bike n 3 mile run. I can swim well and it's indoor, so that's fine. I am fairly…

Virgin Active Problems
Anyone had problems with Virgin Gym? I cancelled my membership online on 3 Jan - they are now conveniently claiming not to have received it and saying I am due to pay until 31 March, leaving me £80 out of pocket. Apparently I must be lying because they have never had an issue with their online system before, which I find…
