Virgin Active - Costs? NHS discount?

I've just been reading through the forums and Martin's haggling and gym membership tips.

I'm going to visit a Virgin Active on the 16/11/13 - I'm hoping to be offered an NHS discount and I was wondering if anyone else has an NHS discount with them and how much they pay? And if anyone has managed to negotiate a new cost and how much to?

But FYI I visited the Virgin Active in London - the NHS discount only applied to the top two prices. This was original price of £64 for the multi-access 12 month contract and £71 for the multi access rolling monthly contract. The NHS discount brought both prices down by a few quid (no more than 5). I was interested in the club only contract which was £58. The man who showed me round and gave me the spiel said there was no movement possible on that price and no way they could offer the discount to it - as the gym takes the viewpoint that corporate discount allows people to travel with work and use different gyms...if you get club only contract then this wouldn't apply. Hmmm....I called back a few days later and spoke to someone different. I explained I'd been to see another local gym who was offering £41 and was there any way they could negotiate on the £58. No. Anyway the NHS discount could be applied? Not possible.

Funny, I had similar experience.

I'm a Police Officer. I went to Bracknell branch which is also a racquets club.

Normal monthly price: £115
Discount police price: £110

Crazy expensive for a start. But £5 discount is just a rubbish offer.
