Training for the zombie apocalypse

I'm a huge Walking Dead fan and tomorrow I have a new gym induction when we'll sort out a training routine for me. My default position tends to be free weights/resistance machines/swimming, but I want to jazz it up a bit and make it fun. If you were thinking of training to survive the zombie apocalypse, what fitness elements would you emphasise?

Well i'd be safe cause they only eat brainz ... And i have none lol.
Sadly i'm disabled so couldn't out run any anyway...
However my suggestions..
Running, free running. Karate style combat and shooting skills.Spelling courtesy of the whims of auto correct...

you need to include ladder climbing ..even stairs would be good.
Zombies are way slower than the living on stairs and I think they just don't do ladders.0 -
I'd want to be able to run very fast, but also I think maybe kickboxing so if they did catch up with you then you'd have strong and powerful arm and leg defences to keep them off you till you can reach for your *flamethrower *gun *machete *weaker person (*select weapon of choice)Many thanks to everyone who posts competitions and works so hard to provide all the answers!

Yes I'm thinking running (haven't run for 20+ years so that's a challenge right there!), agility and the ability to make sprinting starts/dodge around, balance (I wobble when I stand on one leg to put knickers on), upper body strength (cable woodchops etc). I'll need a strong core."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

I reckon upper body strength, especially arms and shoulders. Remember often they can't use guns (and of course we don't have easy access in the UK anyway) so it's hand to hand combat. I'd say it takes strength to spear someone.
edited to add, also fencebuilding so digging etc lol!0 -

Great point - I hadn't even thought about the building-a-camp element! Lots of digging awaiting in my garden, fortunately."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000 -
In terms of the equipment available to me at the gym, there's the usual cardio and resistance machines, free weights, TRX suspension, ViPR, kettlebells, cable machines, a swimming pool, bosu, Swiss balls, Powerplate, spinning studio, every class you can think of. Plenty of opportunities there - anything like archery or fencing would involve going elsewhere."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

You might have guessed ..I think quite a lot about zombie attacks.
I have already nominated it as my apocalyptic event of choice ..0
