Season Tickets.

I don't know if this belongs in here but here goes,

I have a season ticket for my football club, I have supported them for over 50 year, next season I will be 65 halfway through the season and the final half of the games should cost a lower rate to reflect this.

However, when I tried to renew my season ticket I was told that the cut off date for the discount is 30th September so I will have to pay full price for the whole season.

I was told that I could but my tickets as I went along, which would cost me more to do it that way and I could not guarantee getting my usual seat with my friends, also I could not get away match tickets because they go on sale to season ticket holders first. I could then buy a half season ticket at the reduced rate but again it would probably be in another part of the ground and it gives no privileges other then a guaranteed seat each week.

I think that it is illegal to make someone pay over the odds for something that is offered at another rate to people of that age and also discriminatory.

Does anyone know where i stand on this.

Were you going to renew it anyway and you just forgot? Have you had a season ticket for 50 years?!

If so, then I'd write to the club or chairman telling them this and that ideally you'd like to keep your seat. If you've missed the date then I wouldn't think you have any guarrantees of anything. But if they are anyway half decent human beings then they should help you out.

My apologies if you support Cardiff City or Blackburn Rovers, imagine writing to their inept owners lol

But you're not at that age now.

I'm afraid Indie Kid has summed it up.

Personally I've supported my club for around 47/8 years although a season ticket holder for a lot less. As they keep changing my retirement age I'm not sure when I'll get any privileges, but one thing I do know is that in terms of determining age it's done on the basis of age at a particular date, as in your example. So no, it's not discrimination but just the way the world works, and I'm surprised you haven't worked that one out by now..

There are some kids in my women's football team who are good enough to play against adults, but until they reach their 16th birthday they are not allowed to - to be honest a relief to slow defenders everywhere!

My local club still has the concessions thing at 65. Will be interesting to see if it changes. Did used to know someone with an August birthday, which meant he was able to get an under 16s / child season ticket in the June / July and pay the child price throughout the season.
