FirstBank - any good?
Hi I'm considering a FirstBank 2 year fixed rate bond. They are in the MSE 'What We'd Go For' recommendations (and FSE protected) but the Trustpilot reviews for this bank are poor and their website has a distinctly amateurish look about it! Anyone got any direct experience of a bond with this company? Or tips to impart?…

Tax on savings
I'm a basic rate taxpayer but my better half doesn't work. I'm likely to inherit money from my late mothers estate. It's big for us, probably likely to be about £75k. My question is could my wife invest it in savings and therefor not pay tax on the interest or would we fall foul of HMRC. I'm thankfully now debt free so…

Can someone
please clarify the dividend frequency and currency of DEM, Wisdomtree EM Equity

If you inherited £20k, what would you do with it?
For context- when my Grandad passed, money from the sale of his house was put into a Trust, ready for me when I turned 21. I have used a large proportion of this money for a deposit on a house, and so I now have roughly £20k left over. I have an additional £5.5k invested into a Trading 212 Stocks ISA, investing into the…

Capital gains tax and state pension in self assessment.

Tax on income and savings
My salary takes me over the 40% tax bracket as I earn £51890 per annum. I do a salary sacrifice into a DC pension which is 10% of my salary and amounts to £5189 per annum. This makes my taxable salary £46701, i.e. 20% tax payer. My question is - am I a 20% tax payer with regards to interest on savings because of the above,…

Savings Platforms - Worth It?
Just spent the morning investigating savings platforms and noticed, on average, a significantly lower interest rate offered compared to saving directly with the bank/building society, ranging from 0.1% to 0.8%. Whilst I didn't check every single account offered by every savings platform (and some didn't show such details…

Raisin interest
I had a 3year savings account with Raisin which matured today, the interest has been paid out to my holding account yearly. What I can't understand is why each year the interest has been different. Year 1 £750, Year 2 £756 and Year 3 £747.95 The lump sum on day one was £15,000.

Bond fund to replace VLS
Hi, I am looking to move one of my investments (Vanguard Lifestrategy 80 Acc within an ISA) into a Bond fund. I have decided that with the recent good increases in equities, I decided to reduce or remove equities from this particular investment. I have looked at VLS 20 as an easy option, but ideally I would like to move…

Share registrar help
I hold power of attorney for an ageing parent. During an estate transfer, they were to receive a considerable shareholding via a well-known registrar. However the registrar sent the shares (somewhere?) against our instructions, then told us they'd sent thelm to the lawyer, then told the lawyer they'd sent them to us. This…

Which SIPP platforms give immediate tax relief?
When I was on the Aviva platform (IPP) if I made a personal contribution, I got a tax relief credited immediately so I was able to buy additional units at the current price. On the interactive investor platform I got notified it will be 6 to 8 weeks for the tax relief to appear in my account, so I cannot buy additional…
