Donations to pet shelter
Is this the done thing after your dog has passed? I’m not even sure if I have a shelter near me, but I have a lot of food, treats and poo bags that I don’t want to throw away. Sentimental things like her bowls and collar I will keep and decide what to do with. And beds and toys I have thrown away.

Dog Walking
I have offered to walk a neighbours 3 dogs from Monday to Friday. I am not a professional dog walker so obviously don't expect to earn their going rate. Money hasn't been discussed yet and I am looking for some guidance as to what would be a fair rate. I won't be letting them off lead and I will walk them for approx an…

Dog Heavy Breathing
I have an 11 year staff. She has arthritis and is on medication for it. She has been a bit poorly over the last few months, but has good and bad days. She has definitely aged in the last few months. But sometimes she "breathes heavy." I'm not sure how else to describe it. It's not panting. And it goes away when she falls…

Quick and easy garden for a puppy
We have a garden which is just mud. We have a new pup arriving in three weeks and a limited budget. The garden is about 20m x 6m. We will turf most of the garden, but are looking for other textures, maybe a patch, mulch (a minefield) and smooth stones. And, of course, a toilet area. Does anyone have any ideas or tips?…

Puppy biting
Hi all, I have a 4 month old black Labrador male puppy who in so many ways is incredibly well trained and clever. He is toilet trained, can sit, give his paw and is amazing on and off the lead. There is one thing that he is really struggling with and that is learning bite inhibition. I have tried everything online…

New Cats - anything I've missed out?
After I had to say goodbye to my beloved companion of 17 years back in November we are now ready to give a home to some new fur babies. Tomorrow I am collecting these two sisters aged between 5 - 6 from a local rescue charity. I have allocated them a room to themselves with a soft warm bed, sofa covered with a big fluffy…

Elderly cats
My two cats are 18-year-old sisters. They are 19 in January. They are still able to jump, climb, groom and occasionally run, although they have stopped hunting. They are free-range, going in and out as they please, although I do shut them in at night. They spend a lot of time sleeping, as is usual for cats that age. They…

Young cats - won't go out/come in
I've had a cat on and off for 30 years, but never had this problem before. We are the proud parents of two young cats (coming up 8 months). They are female, sisters, spayed. One is perfectly happy to go out, but won't use the cat flap to come back in again (we've shown her how it works, this was all our previous cats…

Cat chewing wires
I think I might scream. We have two cats, 17 months old. They're house cats, as we live next to a main road, but had never previously experienced life outside before we got them in October last year. The rescue were happy to rehome them to us. I do everything I can - short of letting them outside - to give them a good…

Neighbours' dog
Me and OH moved in May. Next door neighbour has a shih Tzu. Cute little dog, bit yappy but doesn't bother us. We realised quickly that if the neighbours are there (male, female and 3 sons youngest about 12) the dog is tied up outside. When they go out the dog is indoors. Most days the dog was put outside at around 8am and…

Friends cats have fleas and they're not being treated
I need some advice on how I can politely tell my friend I don't wish to go to their house or they come to mine whilst their flea problem is so out of control. My friends cats have fleas and they told about it a few weeks ago. At this point of telling me 2 of their cats had extensive hair loss due to overgrooming. They…
