House deeds in deceased Father's name
My Father died last year and my Mother is still living in the house they have lived in for 40 years but the deeds are in his name. He did leave a will (with everything left to my Mother). We are unsure how she gets the house deeds changed to her name now and she is worried about having to pay capital gains tax or…

Pension Forecast/Home Responsibilities Protection
Hubby retired recently and just for the sake of it I decided to get a pension forecast for myself (age 55). Discovered the NI Contributions Office had 'lost' 15 years of my Home Responsibilities Protection. The onus was on me to 'help' them find it, apparently their records are destroyed after 10 years! Thankfully I was…

Will Writing Services
A bit of guidance required please. My Mum (divorced, 2 children, own house with small mortgage) would like to make a will, she has been approached by WSL Will Writing Services who reckon they can do it for less than £50. This seems remarkably cheap to me, does anyone have any experience of WSL or similar companies? Thanks…

Funerals and paying for them...
Hello. I need some advice please. My mother is terminally ill and lives with a friend, who has taken on responsibilty as a carer. Unbeknown to me, they have been making funeral arrangements, completely ignoring the costs, in the expectation I will pay for it all. Now I appreciate this may sound heartless, but although I…

Any good ideas
I am going to be retiring in a few years and the idea of not working at all is not one I really fancy. I am thinking of a little part time business to concentrate on. The extra bit of money would also be quite handy. Any thoughts please?

Has anyone brought property in later life and what have been you experience of this. Will question
This board's been a bit quiet recently so I thought I'd take advantage of the lull for a question about a hypothetical will. If a woman gave birth to a child which was adopted at three months, would she have to state in her will the name of the child and that she was not bequeathing anything to it ? The adoptive parents…

Mum's being pushed into making a will
It's all a big mess. In a nutshell, Mum has just lost her husband 3 weeks ago, he died intestate. His son is now putting the pressure on Mum to make out a will so he can have her house. My brother and myself are horrified that he's doing this to her - she's 74 years old and has lung disease - we find out in 3 weeks or so…
