Funerals and paying for them...
Hello. I need some advice please. My mother is terminally ill and lives with a friend, who has taken on responsibilty as a carer. Unbeknown to me, they have been making funeral arrangements, completely ignoring the costs, in the expectation I will pay for it all. Now I appreciate this may sound heartless, but although I…

I am going to be retiring in a few years and the idea of not working at all is not one I really fancy. I am thinking of a little part time business to concentrate on. The extra bit of money would also be quite handy. Any thoughts please?

Buying a property in later life
Has anyone brought property in later life and what have been you experience of this. Hubby late 50s and I nearly 50 are in the position where we could purchase a property to allow us to become rent and mortgage free. Will question
This board's been a bit quiet recently so I thought I'd take advantage of the lull for a question about a hypothetical will. If a woman gave birth to a child which was adopted at three months, would she have to state in her will the name of the child and that she was not bequeathing anything to it ? The adoptive parents…

Mum's being pushed into making a will
It's all a big mess. In a nutshell, Mum has just lost her husband 3 weeks ago, he died intestate. His son is now putting the pressure on Mum to make out a will so he can have her house. My brother and myself are horrified that he's doing this to her - she's 74 years old and has lung disease - we find out in 3 weeks or so…

Lasting Power of Attorney & Bank Account Access
A close relative with a very low income and who has had countless financial crises recently asked us to start looking after their financial affairs, so that (hopefully) they would no longer be constantly in trouble at the bank and with other agencies. Something like this http://www.lakeland.co.uk/funky-trundle/F/product/2156 But at £15, I wonder can I get better/tougher/sturdier. In case she leans on it, she may do this without realising, she may not, but just in case
