Hitachi Yutaki (ASHP and Indoor Unit & DHW Cylinder)
Are there any other members on here that have the Hitachi Yutaki (ASHP and Indoor Unit & DHW Cylinder)? I have just moved to a property with this system and looking for some help. Equipment: * As far as I can tell it's S Combi, this is the model number RWD-3.0RW1E-220S-K, so the HW tank is within the indoor box. * The heat…

What plumbing/cabling/preparation is needed to prepare for ASHP in the future?
We want to replace the carpet, which means I'm now wondering what disruption an ASHP would cause at some point in the future (assuming everyone will eventually have to have one or a hybrid system) to decide if there is anything we can do in advance. We had a lot of disruption moving to a condensing boiler. We have a…

Clearance for Daikin Heat Pump
Does anyone know the minimum distance that must be left between the side of a Daikin Altherma 3 M 4kW (EDLA04EV3) and a wall? There seems to be no mention of this in the installation manual.

Worth changing from LPG? Help with comparison please!
We live in new, well insulated 3 bedroom semi, rural area. We currently have an underground LPG tank and fill it up once a year, 2000 litres @ 62ppl and and annual standing charge of £100. We have 4KW worth in total of solar panels. Our electric bill is approximately £720 per year. We earn a poor £60 per year on FIT. We…

Fischer aquaefficient vs cylinder
I've seen this https://fischerfutureheat.com/product/aquafficient/ Unlike sunamp, it looks like they're backed by a 10 year warranty. They're rated for 40,000 cycles too Would there be any real disadvantages if you have this instead of a hot water cylinder? The advantage ofc is space saving which is decent for smaller…

Air Source Heat Pump - Breakdown cover
Just moved to home with a ASHP which is our only source of heating. Do ASHP engineers provide breakdown cover service agreements? Do other owners of ASHP feel the need to have breakdown cover?

New ASHP Installed & Showers Running Cold
We've recently had a new ASHP system installed. Sadly, following installation, we've been told that our underfloor heating is "the wrong type" & won't work properly with the new system. And neither will our showers, apparently; a plumber who visited because our showers are all running cold, said that it's because they're…

Heat pumps
Hi I am planning to renew my heating system this year, putting in a heat pump to replace an old gas boiler. I am trying to find people who’ve already done this to find out how their experience has been and how they’ve found the cost of running the heat pump compared to the boiler and any difference they’ve had to adjust to…

Is an ASHP the way to go for us?
We have a 5 bedroom house 235M2 which has an oil boiler that needs replacing and provides hot water and runs our underfloor heating throughout the house. The heating is set to frost protect at 5degrees all through the year as the house is plenty hot enough. We have solar panels to offset a very expensive to run aga, hence…

Octopus - pipe route over flat roofs
I thought it might save others delays and effort if I share that Octopus say they do not carry out any installation that requires piping to be routed over flat (or sloping) roofs. So, this is another way in which they are cherry-picking the easiest installs. I just had Octopus visit to do a resurvey, as their original…

Soap dodgers - ASHP quote hot water assumption?
Got my quote from Octopus, don't really like it. One odd factor seems to be the hot water assumption - despite based on bedrooms them assuming we need a 300l tank, they also assume 2000kwh per year output heat demand for hot water We have about 8 showers a day between the 4 of us, at 80 litres per shower, water temp…

£7.5k BUS heat pump grant for non-domestic premises
Most of the discussion of the £7.5k BUS grant seems focused on homes, but I started looking into this for a scout hut and here is what I found: The BUS (in England) is not limited to homes. (This might also be true in the rest of the UK, but I've only checked the rules in England.) So, if you have a smallish charity or…

Air heat pumps
Good evening everyone, Please excuse me if this has been asked before, I tried to find info from previous posts without much success. EPC rated air pump as "poor"
Hi I'm looking at putting an offer on a house, I don't know much about heat pumps, so naturally nervous about it. I checked the EPC for rough estimate on how much it costs to run the property per year, it says 1.4k.
The rating it gave the heat pump is poor, so is water heating. Any thoughts? I don't understand any of this…
