Fan Alarm

We have quite an elderly Nibe 2005 Fighter - commissioned in June 2009, and recently it has been shutting down with a Fan Alarm. Nothing about this in the manual. Our engineer says he thinks the only solution is to replace the whole fan assembly (at considerable cost!) but the fan will often work (continuously) for several hours at a time before alarming. Has anyone else had this problem and how was it resolved?

Thanks - I've tried that of course (and am still waiting for one of the Tech Team to call me back), and subsequently also emailed them. It took a full week for them to reply and to tell me that they have "passed my enquiry to the Tech Team and will let me know when they get a response". 
I have made a formal complaint about their poor Customer Service but I get the feeling that Nibe have given up... very sad.
