Old bicycle for plant display
It’s surprising but sometimes you don’t see something because you’re that used to looking at it ! The other day I was out in my shed doing some tidying when I noticed my mother’s old bike tucked away at the bottom of the building surrounded by god knows what! Anyway it suddenly occurred to me that it might make a nice way…

Mature fig tree wanted
Thought it would be simple to find a firm supplying a large mature fig tree. Found a firm easily and price is probably the correct one for the size - but they have absolutely outrageous delivery charges:eek::eek::eek:. A 3 figure amount or not far off just for a delivery that one expects to pay about £5-£10 for!! I don't…

Does size of pot/planter limit growth?
We are new to gardeing and growing so excuse the (possibly) very basic questions. We have some small conifers in pots (pots approx 16" tall by 16" diameter and was wondering will they get to a point and stop growing? Almost will the roots have no where else to go, therefore they dont get any bigger? Or does it not work…

Cost effective way of building a compost pit
I have recently leased an allotment. Nothing was grown in the plot for over 3 years so, there is a lot of weed growth. So, naturally I would like to start with a round of rotovating. But this will leave me with heaps of grass cuttings and weed. Instead of dumping it in the community pit, I would like to put it in the…

Hi all Hoping for a bit of gentle guidance. Bamboo clumping
About 2 years ago I bought some bamboo from Homebase - can't remember the exact species but could find out - to provide some cover where my garden is overlooked. I know I researched the species, and accepted all the warnings about it clumping as it is in a bed, and I'm happy for it to clump. However.....it's not growing…
