New Turf Issue

During May and June I returfed my lawn. In preparation I rotavated the entire area to depth of 25cm removing all roots from the length and breadth.  Then added a total of 3.6 tonnes of compost soil improver and turf and lawn topsoil. Before laying Medallion Turf.

4 months on it was maturing nicely (see attached picture ) then last month almost overnight it deteriorated (see attached picture)

I would welcome your thoughts and advice on this issue.

Difficult to see close up, but looks like birds searching for worms, leather jackets etc in the grass.

Can you confirm if it is damage we should be looking at, or flooding? Can you a give close up of what we need to look at?

What was the problem you were trying to overcome by returfing? It's a small lawn covered on all four sides by a tall fence, tall bushes and the house; so quite shaded.

Or you have upset someone and during the night they have sprayed weed killer on your lawn.

Was there any frost where you live and have walked on the lawn when covered with frost.

I see a washing line so maybe walking in the same spot while hanging out the washing may have damaged the lawn but if say this was over night it shouldn't be that.

It is the area you are walking on so it's going to be more compacted.
    The rest is fine.

If it was overnight would it be possible that you had something on your shoes in the last few days like floor cleaner or had walked over fresh tarmac? Something that could have damaged the blades of grass?

Have you put grass feed down in the last week and walked on it?

Wait a few days and see if new shoots come up.
