What is this please?

It's white and powdery and growing on living and dead branches as well as the painted wooden slats on the compost bin.

There's not a lot but it keeps cropping up.



I first saw it on the branch of the apple tree in autumn but now it's other places. 

It can easily be brushed off and seems to have done no harm. 

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

    Looks like dog sick slime mould, perfectly harmless.

    Interesting but this is powder dry with like little dry crystals that turns to dust if you brush it.

    I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

    Slime moulds don’t stay slimy for long, they dry out and crumble away dispersing their spores. There are many forms and their life cycle is fascinating.

    Ok I promise to read up on them at lunchtime.
    I would be fascinated if it was in the woods but not so much in my tiny garden.
