Three Phase requirement for "high usage"
If you've got an EV, and a heat pump I think that'd be high usage enough It seems like Ofgem at least want the network operates to do this for free and have the costs socialised via the standing charge, which makes sense when apparently one in three houses need it…

Some thoughts, considerations, and questions below. Thoughts, feedback and challenge welcome to help me improve the design. *…

Interesting SCOP with an MVHR
I came across this website : https://heatpumpmonitor.org/ The person with the highest SCOP has an MVHR. Granted, they haven't had it for long but an average SCOP of 6.7 is pretty damn good I'll be looking at that over the winter to gauge what might be possible. Though getting a COP 6.4 even for the past month is pretty…

Wind farm with solar
Ripple energy has stand alone wind farms and stand alone solar panels Is the main thing stopping us seeing, something like this, sheer cost? Or perhaps it's too new a technology? . https://www.designboom.com/technology/powernest-wind-turbine-solar-panels-01-30-2023/

Sunamp heat battery for DHW only
I came across this https://sunamp.com/blog/a-homeowners-experience-why-i-chose-a-sunamp-heat-battery-over-a-hot-water-cylinder/ It mentions: "So, as it turns out, by keeping hot water separate from our heating system has opened up a few different options." However it doesn't exactly say what those options are? Octopus do…

I was a Green Network Energy (GNE) customer and have just emerged from the transfer to EDF as Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR). Tigo Optimisers?
I've currently got solar panels facing west, and I've got planning permission to put solar panels on my flat roof where they could forcibly face south (ish) Would it be a good idea to get Tigo optimisers given there's two different orientations? Equally, does anyone know of a decent installer in the north west that would…

Octopus Energy & FIT payments
I seem to have run in to a spot of bother with my present FIT 'agent', Octopus Energy. It seems to me that energy suppliers don't really like the hassle of having to handle FIT payments, something that doesn't earn them much revenue I suspect. So you don't get 'great service' from them if all they do is process FIT…

solar panels and octopus
Hi all, I'm new to the solar game and i am currently on an existing fixed with Scottish Power on 24p per KW. It is up for renewal later this year. I have 4050 kw solar panels (10 of them) and a 9.5 KW Givenergy battery. We have an ASHP for our heating and no electric car. Am I best changing to Octopus Flex?

Anyone heard of powerpod?
This is rather cheap considering they offer a 50% discount if you order a year ahead, but what protection do you get if they go bust before then? Chargebacks are surely only valid for a finite amount of time?…
