Hi all,
Been getting a few quotes as we have been considering "going solar". Prices around 8-9k for 8 panels, inverter and 5kw battery system.
We use storage heaters and are on an Economy 7 tariff. (NB I am aware that solar and a small battery will not have any impact on our heating bills).
Not really doing it expecting a return anytime soon, mainly hoping to reduce our daytime usage significantly, and also hoping it may make the property more "saleable" should we decide to move at some point.
I am aware that inverters and batteries have a "limited life" (7-12 years?).
Just wondering what peoples thoughts are, and what questions I need to ask when the respective suppliers come and do a survey?
Any feedback appreciated....

There's a thread on exactly this over on "Green and Ethical":
If you share your quotes over there, you'll get useful feedback.

Hold off on pushing any buttons till you have shared the brands of PV components offered, your annual electricity consumption and plans (if any) to get a heat pump/ EV.

In my experience, warranties from unethical brands mean very little & the quote you have shared seems very high for what's on offer.
    -  10 x 400w LG + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial Panels + SE 3680 HD Wave Inverter + SE Optimizers. SE London.
    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me if I can help with any energy saving!

    Need more data I'm afraid.
What size are the panels, what size will the inverter be?
What orientation will the panels be mounted?
    Any issues with shading?
    Brands are important also.

Agree that it seems pretty expensive for what's been offered on the face of it

I was surprised at how much the scaffolding was but I needed it front & back as I am east/west orientated.

If you drop Screwdriva a DM they might be able to suggest an installer that serves your area. Just for comparison with the ones you've already got.

Hi all, just had our first quote as follows:-

5KW system, using 11 Hengdian panels, Sunsynk 5kw inverter, Sunsynk 10 kw battery

10k install cost, estimated saving sof £400 per year...

...grateful for any comments on the overall cost, and the quality / reliability of the components...

    ..many thanks....
