Downlight Protectors

I am enhancing the insulation my loft and there are several downlights which need to be covered over before I lay the insulation on them.

You can buy downlight protectors from such firms as Loftleg and Thermahood, but the ones I have identified are all too small. My light fitting have those plastic "wings" that you can see in the photo. They extend the length of the fitting to 23cm. The width is 12cm and the height 13cm.
Can anyone point me to downlight protectors that are of sufficent size, or suggest how to improvise them?
Thanks.

That is a terrible installation of your down lighters. You would do better replacing them for a good quality LED type. Have a look at JCC's JC X50. I'm an elecrical contractor and fit these all day long.
PS. No Fire Hoods required

as a electrician I would recommend these are replaced as per Brunokid in that state they would fail a test. Also you would gain by the energy saved1

Thank you for that advice. I shall bear it seriously in mind.0

The JCC X50 looks amazingly well designed and really easy to install. It looks as if I would need the Retrofit version with 135mm bezel. Does it definitely need a professional electrician to install it, or could I do it myself? My electrical competence is at the level of wiring a plug.0

Do you have insurance to cover it (if something goes wrong might not be your fault) If a fire in your house its too easy to blame the electrician0
