Reduced car tax
If you are claiming reduced tax because you are getting standard PIP for walking does the car have to registered as disabled class or do you just need an up to date PIP letter? Thanks

council tax reduction - will they take note of improvements?
I have rheumatoid arthritis, and use a power chair indoors. I've recently realised that I could ask for the council tax reduction because of the extra floor space for wheelchair use, but I would like to check something before I apply. When we moved in to our present house, it was a 1 bedroomed cottage with a derelict barn…

PIP discriminating against working people?
Hi all, Long story short: I am 27 years old and have scoliosis, developmental dysplasia of the spine, ehlers danlos syndrome, and (supposedly) fibromyalgia. I cannot stand up straight for the first couple of hours of the day, I experience frequent subluxes of various joints, including my jaw, knees, toes, and fingers. I…

PIP Assessment
Ive been a DLA claimant for 12 years and have now been summoned for a PIP face to face assessment. So i gather my claim has not been good enough for a straight approval... Not sure how to go about this as i am not good with appointments and talking face to face about my illness. I have a severe psychosis which was not…

Bipolar and borrowing
Hi everyone, Im after some help. My husband suffers from Bipolar and his manic phases can be totally uncontrollable. During these times he often borrows money from high interest lenders. Between episodes he is totally aware of his condition and the trouble this causes but is reluctant to hand all control to me as he feels…

Carers Element Universal Credit
I have only recently applied for UC and only recently been awarded middle care rate of DLA for my DD. I informed UC via my online account that I had been awarded it as there is a carers element, I was then told I would have to call and ask for it to be backdated to when I was awarded DLA. I then realised there is also a…

Appointeeship - Son 22, with ASD, Wants me to stop
I have a son 22, with ASD, ADHD etc. He's at university. First term he spent his loan within 6 weeks and I had to help him out. Second term, same thing. He gets DLA of £300 a month. Or rather I get it and forward it to him as I am his appointee. He's gotten progressively angry with me, more or less accusing me of abuse..,…

Pip mobility - moving around
Hi I recently received my PIP decision where I was awarded 10 points for moving around more than 20 metres but no more than 50 metres. I have asked for a mandatory reconsideration and am forwarded another couple of pieces of information. I am contesting this as every day I can't walk more than 20 metres for 80% of the…

Blue Badges becoming useless?
A relative I take out has had a badge for many years, however I am increasingly finding it pointless as wherever we go all of the bay's are full, is seems more pronounced over the last couple of years. The badge is still handy for parking on double yellows & for the free parking, however the main need is to get the person…

Dla fax number
Hi, Does anyone know the fax number for DLA? They have lost my mandatory reconsideration for my son and told me to fax it. Did not notice until today that the letter has no fax number. I've searched the net, and no fax number appearing. Wondering if its just their phone number I use.

Learning Disability and Wills
Hi there, I wonder if anyone could help me out? My son is almost 16, complex needs, and I've been doing a bit of research into managing 'adult' things for him - generally money and decision making matters that an adult would deal with themselves but that he is often unable to as he has learning difficulties and doesn't…

Best place to buy a reasonably priced stair lift?
Stanna quote prices starting at £1,900 for a reconditioned one, which seems a bit steep to me (no pun intended), plus they charge to provide an estimate. Can anyone recommend a decent and reasonably-priced supplier that covers the North Kent area (Swanley)?

Bipolar & Money
Hi, I am bipolar and suffer from a borderline personality disorder and PTSD, like most people with these conditions, I have very poor impulse control. Advice on an Industrial Injury Benefit claim
Hi, guys hope I'm in the right place, I'm looking for any advice on Industrial Injuries Benefit Assessment. I made a claim for it last December I think and I had a response from them saying the decision maker had decided my claim was, in fact, a workplace injury and has arranged for me to attend an assessment but on the…

DLA after death
I know... weird idea. My father died eighteen months ago, and HMRC has - just yesterday - finally repaid to his estate an overpayment of income tax made while he was alive. That leaves only one item outstanding on his Estate Statement, and that is DLA. DLA is paid in arrears, so at the time of his death he will have been…
