PIP Change of Circumstance response time query?

Options
Hi All.

I wonder if any of you can put my mind at rest? I currently receive Standard Care and Standard Mobility PIP allowance. In February, I contacted them as my condition has deteriorated. I got the letter for the assessment, I went to centre, waited 40 minutes, to be informed that they would not be able to see me for another hour. Strange as people were coming in after me and being seen. It was a Friday and my appointment was for 2pm. I waited till 3pm to be seen, the assessor seemed really caring. Said I should get more points for some of the questions asked. Anyway at the end, she apologised for the delay and said I was her last patient for the day.

On the Tuesday, I get an SMS saying they have received the report and to please allow 4 weeks.

I did that, and about 5 days before the 4 weeks, I get a letter saying that they have all the evidence they need to make a decision and they will let me know shortly.

The day of the 4 weeks, I get an sms saying that they tried contacting me and to call them back. I did so and spoke to an adviser who read my notes and said that they needed to know the date when my circumstances changed, so I told him.

That was a week ago and still no letter. My PIP was awarded on the 29th April 2016.

Should I be worried? Why would they want to know the date my circumstances changed?

Its been 5 weeks now and no letter

Anyone experienced this?

Cheers

They'd need to know the date so that they can correctly backdate any new award, whatever form that would take.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Our change of circs took twelve weeks and that was for an improvement in condition so we didn't need a face to face (it's my son with the disability and I act on his behalf).

Have you rang and asked for a copy of the assessment report? This will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be, as they mostly go with that report.

You can also ring them anytime to ask if a decision is made, if it has then they'll tell you. Letters from DWP can often take several days to arrive.
