Tesco Disabled Parking

Does anyone know if Tesco have a list where you can add your car reg to so you don't get parking tickets? I spoke to customer services who say they don't and just to ring up everytime and they will cancel the ticket if i get one. But this seems like a hassle as they have reduced the time allowed for parking in my local one.

It depends on a number of factors but yes, Tesco have sometimes mentioned that they can whitelist cars at some sites but not all - eg retail parks where parking is handled by the park owner, not Tesco themselves. Also, if you mean Customer Services at the front of the store, then there is usually little that can do - you need manager level or above where parking is concerned.

However, as belt and braces you should educate yourself properly on the real nature of the private parking contractors that operate on the different type of Tesco sites. They are on the whole predators who just want money off you.

The Newbies Sticky at the top of the Parking Tickets subform here will bring you up to speed on how they work and what to do if you do ever get ticketed - and yes, a strong complaint is often the way to go with Tesco and accessible spaces. :)

Thanks. Its a Tesco only store not a retail park.
I phoned customer service who said they will cancel all tickets should i receive any.
I went into the store and asked if there was a list and the manager said there is no list and the time limit is 2 hours for everyone. The store customer services didn't know anything and called the manager.
I will email them with all the details and am sure they have a staff list where staff are exempt as i see staff parking all the time.

Thankfully I have not had the pleasure of parking in one of those stores that operates this policy. However I do see signs at most supermarket stores that a 3 hour limit is imposed apart from a Lidl one that is operated by their own ANPR system which gives a 2 hour limit per 24 hours.
The tesco we shop at has a three hour limit but those with a BB are exempt and may park for as long as they want. provided that they are parked in a BB bay and display the BB.

If they change it eventually to a 2 hour limit across the board then I will park on the public highway double yellows outside for 3 hours!

The disabled bays at our Tesco Extra are annoying , as though the mum and baby bays are at the side of the store (no getting wet if it rains as there is a canopy over the pavement)these are in four rows going uphill from the store. This means that about half are unused, because disabled people don't use them, but no one else is allowed to.

Some 'anyone' spaces are much more convenient than the disabled ones.

At my Tesco Express the only parking close by are two pull ins that allow 30mins parking with no return within 2hrs. Unfortunately you don't shop there between 8.30am and 5pm as the teachers park their cars there all day! In all of the years that I have lived here, I have never seen or known anyone to get a ticket from a traffic warden.

I never worked in or visited a school without ample on-site parking, so find this hard to believe, especially as shop owners would report the parking as it lost them custom.

It all depends on the age of the primary school and where it is situated. this one is a small village one that has expanded in every direction to accommodate more and more children as the village has grown into a town. Yes the shop owners do complain to the council but all that is said is that the district council would find it difficult and costly to keep sending the wardens 5 miles up the road from where they are based. Hence there is no parking control despite the signs - hasn't been for years.
And it was only last year that a guy's car was up on ramps in the parking area for over 3 months whilst he worked on it at the weekend.
